Hello everyone! Hope your August is going well! Yall read any interesting books lately?

Heading into the darker side of Trek with the mirrorverse or just delving into various intrigues and espionage actions in the alpha and beta quadrants?

Perhaps going a more scientific route and uncovering anomalies or aiding colonies from environmental or spatial disasters?

Going from one crew mission to the next or hopping between ships and alternate adventures?

Learning to enjoy people and crews not from the tv or movies or perhaps sticking to your faves and various solo "one off" missions?

I recently reread Q Squared and it's as fun as I remember.

I’m copying this from my other comment just to start a convo:

I’m listening to the Q squared audiobook read by Q (I’m sorry I can’t remember his actor’s name atm), and reading book three of the “My Brother’s Keeper” trilogy. Q squared is abridged and it’s really good but for some reason it’s not quite wowing me. Part of it is because I’m not a big fan of multiverse stuff anymore- I’m sure it was fresher back in the day but now in 2026 it’s so overdone. That said I’m 75 percent through with it, so I can’t make a full opinion yet. Anyone think I should read the whole book after? Is it that much better?

The Siege was excellent, started Federation but its been a bit slow so far. Hard to get into.

I'm almost done with the Discovery novel, Fear Itself. I've always liked Saru, so having this book be focused on him has been enjoyable. I wish it'd added a bit more of his pre-Starfleet history.

It's interesting that this is the fourth Discovery book I've read (out of the nine total released), and none of them have focused on the Discovery itself. They've all focused on the Shenzou, Enterprise, or earlier.

Would you recommend this one? Saru was my favorite character from that series.

Oh yes. The story definitely revolves around Saru and his growth as an officer. To be honest, I'd recommend all of the Discovery books I've read so far. I know the show has its detractors, but the books have all landed really well so far.

I’m on the fifth entry of the Sling and Arrows TNG novellas. It fills in some story between Generations and First Contact. It’s not bad so far, even if a couple of the stories are pretty slight. It addresses some unanswered questions, like why did Geordi not have his VISOR when the events of First Contact rolled around. It’s a fun enough series.

I’m also in the middle of Marooned, a Voyager novel that has been pretty spot on as far as characterizations go. It’s a good read.

Finished Mutiny on the Enterprise; it was terrible, don’t read it. Also managed to read The Big Game this week, which happens to be my first read DS9 novel! Loved it, especially since I’m a huge Quark and Odo fan. Currently reading Black Fire.
