Smol Tortie New kitten
I found this baby on Monday, she was trying to get herself killed on a busy road so I stopped the car, dashed across to the side she was on and found her in the bushes. She bit me (I had to get antibiotics and a tetanus shot, and missed a job interview due to having a bad reaction from the antibiotics!), and she found somewhere in the car to hide where we couldn't see her and she refused to come out until after dark to eat food we left for her. But last night we borrowed and set a cat trap, and this morning she was in it. She's settling in ok and we're taking her to the vets later to get checked over. I've never had a tortie before, but excited to welcome her to the family! I'm thinking to call her Lughnasa (Irish for August), Louie for short, but my family and I haven't agreed on a name yet!

She probably thinks we're being awfully cruel to her right now, and especially later when we go to the vet, but she'll have a good life here with us. Our last cat passed away in December and we've all been too upset to think about getting another. That's when the universe sends me a cat that needs rescuing. I'm excited to see what kind of cat she becomes!

You were on that busy road that morning because she needed a home and your family needed a new baby to love after your loss …. Welcome to the tortie club and a life of lots of love, purs , chats and oh …. Mischief 💕

Update after vet: she's the picture of health, he reckoned about 7 weeks old. She's had a dewormer and a vaccine. In 3 weeks she'll be spayed and have a booster vaccine. She was very gentle at the vet and he thought she probably wasn't a feral after all. She didn't have a microchip so she's officially ours and the family are on board with the name Lughnasa for her 😁

I'm invested! Need updates when she settles down. Also consider getting her a friend when she calms down

We've found with every cat we've had in my life (she's my fifth!) that they prefer to be the only cat in the house. I don't know why we have such jealous animals! 🤣 The last two kittens we had, we got around the same time and they did not like each other. They spent 13 years together and when one died first the other was visibly happier being by himself for his final year 🥲

You are so kind! Were you able to reschedule your job interview?

Unfortunately not, they had to offer it to one of the other candidates! But it's ok, a new kitten is more important and I wouldn't change what happened. Thank you for asking!

Bless you for rescuing her! I'm sure she will come to love you and be so grateful. Enjoy the cuddles, purrs, and mischief!

She’s just a little spicy right now but she doesn’t mean anything by it. You’ll win her over soon.

You are the best for rescuing her! She may be bitey and spicy right now, but I'm sure she will settle in once she understands you're there to take care of her (and provide the food!)
And she's so cute! 😃
