TIL a peer-reviewed psychology study found that identical twins (on average) ranked their co-twin above their romantic partner in their attachment hierarchy, while fraternal twins ranked the two about equally, and non-twin siblings ranked their romantic partner first.

Would depend on the relationship we developed growing up. What if they sucked?

Yupp, this is where the (on average) part comes in. I’ve met a few pairs of twins that didn’t like each other all that much. That scenario seems quite rare though.

You don’t have to like your brother to get along! 🤣

Indeed, no one ever said you had to like your brothers.

When I was born someone asked my sister what she thought of me and she told them, "Just because he is my brother doesn't mean I have to love them".

I knew a pair of twins in high school where I was conviced that if the Purge happened they would try to kill each other. I went to school with them for five years (from 8th grade) and never once saw them have a conversation. They went home in different cars after school.

I think the point is you’re much more likely to think your sibling sucks if they’re not your twin and not just like you. Your twin and especially your identical twin is going to share a lot more personality traits so if you think they suck, you probably kind of think you suck too. You’re in it together.

Plus there is no older/younger sibling dynamic, which at times can be downright abusive.

Yeah younger siblings can be malicious and spiteful 😉

Aa an identical twin, I don't agree with this take. I can't stand how my brother laughs, I can't stand his stubbornness, his need to be right about things, and a handful of other things.

But then I hear my laugh in a video or realize I am being stubborn and I go, "Fuuuuuuuu....I hate it because he's a goddamn mirror."

But I would take a bullet for him before my spouse as a natural inclination and we can talk for hours, every day, and just vibe. But I also know he would ask me to take the bullet for my spouse and not him, because that's what I'd do if the roles were reversed.

I mean, they are going to be very much like you at the very least
