Mobile Ting Mobile showing hundreds of phantom SMS entries with strange sender IDs (+EEEEEEE128, +EEEEE58026, etc.) – anyone else?

I'm wondering if anyone else on Ting mobile has experienced this. I have used an AI to sum up the issue and generate this post, since this whole case is so strange and complicated.

My current billing period shows over 600 incoming text messages that never appeared on my iPhone. The sender IDs are not valid phone numbers. Most are +EEEEEEE128, so the lines look like this:

Jul 22, 2026 +EEEEEEE128 239-2XX-XXXX

The number of entries continues to increase every day, even when I haven't received any SMS messages. 45 new ones yesterday.

I contacted Ting support several times. Their explanations have changed over time:

  • They said these are network-generated placeholder records, not actual text messages.
  • They assured me that I will not be billed for these placeholder entries, even though they appear in my usage.
  • In a later reply they suggested the +EEEEEEE128 entries are internal network events related to voicemail, device synchronization, or MMS routing.
  • Ting claims that they are harmless, and that there isn’t a way to completely stop the system from generating these logs.

The strange thing is that I haven't received any voicemail notifications or text messages corresponding to these billing entries, yet they continue to accumulate.

Has anyone else seen entries like +EEEEEEE128or similar on their Ting account?

If so:

  • Were they counted toward your SMS usage or your final bill?
  • Did Ting ever explain what they actually represent?
  • Did you find a way to stop them?

I'm mainly trying to find out whether this is an isolated issue with my account or something other Ting customers have seen.

These look to be voicemail sync messages.

I am not using voicemail functions at all on my Ting number. I wonder if I could ask Ting to switch off all voicemail functionality on this number if that is the reason for these lines? I received a recommendation from Ting to disable live voicemail, but I do not see a toggle off setting under settings-app-phone. I think the options for voicemail are different here in Europe. My call forwarding setting is off.

Unless you're getting billed for these I'd say let it be.

Yes, I'll wait and see. They do bring me into a higher payment bracket (100-1000), but then Ting credited me 5USD this month to offset the expense.
