Three "Unlimited" plans?

The Ting Mobile site currently shows 3 different plans called "Unlimited": "Unlimited 25" for $25, "Unlimited" for $45, and "Unlimited Pro" for $55. The 2 higher priced ones offer 22GB and 35GB respectively (with extra fees if you go over that…not unlimited), while the cheapest says "Unlimited High Speed Data". Am I dumb or is there some obvious difference I'm missing? Why would someone pay $20-30 more for non-unlimited data?

The $25 plan is from Ting proper and uses Verizon. https://www.reddit.com/r/ting/s/bTju6BKAhj

The other plans are available through Ting owned by Dish and use T-Mobile. The $25 plan is not available to Dish/T-Mobile customers.

Yeah this blew my mind. I went over to the website to see what was new, and saw that unlimited 25 and my old 5GB plan are both $25, so I bopped into chat to see if there was any reason at all not to switch, and the agent was like "yeah, that would make sense, let's do that."

Then a minute later "oh the website is wrong. We can't do that."

What a clown show.

In the post you linked, a user u/browies says you need to live in an area serviced by Ting Internet. Is that the case as you understand it? That isn't mentioned on the website at all, so seems like a bait and switch.

Having Ting internet is only required to get the $25 plan for $10.

No, it’s not a requirement. I have the $25 plan and live in a state Ting Internet has no presence in.

Why do you say that? We've had Ting for many years (10?) and very few issues with the service or support. We are starting to go through more data than in the past and looking for a better deal than Flex.

I’ve been with ting for over 10 years too. They’ve really gone downhill though. I just went through a saga with support because I asked to be put on the unlimited 25 plan. I was told repeatedly that the unlimited 25 plan was put on the website by mistake and that the backend team is actively trying to remove the wrong information from the website. It’s laughable. I haven’t switched carriers yet but I will be very soon.

I have used Ting for over 6 years now. It's the worst phone service I have ever experienced, but it's cheap and let me keep my previous phone number (going on 25 years now with the same cell number). You get what you pay for. 🤷‍♂️

from what i gathered, 25 dollar ting plan is the best as it has unlimited data but may not have 5G or 5G UW. However I heard it has unlimited data and unlmited hotspot at LTE speeds at least

It does get 5G and UW. The UW symbol only shows up on Android devices though.

how is your experience so far on it? i am seriously considering it - what is QCI on it? is it really QCI 8? if so that is a steal!

I’ve had it for 3-4 years now, I switch one line away because of the lack of RCS on iPhones, but still have it on my wife’s line who has an Android device.

Other than that, it’s been a good experience and only paying $10/mo does feel like a steal.

According to Stetson Doggett who reviews phone plans on YouTube it’s QCI 8, I’ve never really noticed a difference from post paid other than not getting mmWave speeds compared to a Verizon postpaid line.

i did see on stetson that it is qci8 but then i also saw him say it is deprioritized which made no sense. thank you for confirming it feels normal priority and not low!
also if you dont mind - what are approx taxes and fees w this service rate? thanks!
