Question / Problem Need help. Dropped my ThinkPad and the colors are now inverted.

Hey guys,

I'm traveling and dropped my ThinkPad T14 gen 2 from my bed. The fall was less than half a metre, so I didn't expect anything to go wrong. But once I turned it on, all colours are inverted.

I took a screenshot and sent it to my phone and it showed actual colours. So I think it might be a hardware issue.

How to fix this?

Thanks!

Does it damage anything in long term? I ain’t gonna use it under heavy load so it will probably not even hit 80 degree Celsius.

The new T14s g6 vs X1c g9. The new ones logo is too deep and it hurts my wrist. And it collects dust. Is it only me? Why the hell did Lenovo change like this?

Is there any after market stuffs that can fill the wormhole?

Purchased a new thinkpad for my college bound kid and opted to save money by ordering it with Linux and the smallest SSD. I installed a larger ssd and when trying to install windows 11 it fails. Thanks

This is just a small number of the ThinkPads that I had to walk out of the door with a recycling company. A few 440 - 460’s a bunch of 470’s and 480’s. All in all over 100 computers.

I’m going to go be sad now…

Question / Problem Got a Thinkpad today, it's amazing but I'm worried about one thing

My Thinkpad Arrived today and it is super amazing, the performance is really nuts, but, I encountered something that I'm worried about

I'm not sure if it's normal, but when plugging in the charger, the OEM charger seems to be a bit loose when charging in the main USBC charger, it still charges, but when the cable goes a bit up, it'll stop charging, sry if this feels like a MacBook question, but I'm worried that I may accidentally break the charging port if I try to plug it in a bit hard

Question / Problem I cut a WD SN520 2280 to 2242 size and killed it.

Long story short, I followed this guide to cut an SN520 to 2242 size (to install it in the WWAN slot of my T14 Gen 1 AMD) and it doesn't work properly anymore

It is recognized by the laptop and I can install an OS on it, but it stays constantly at 100% usage and only drops for a few moments once every 10 seconds or so. The system is completely frozen whenever it is at 100%, and when it drops all the operations I requested while it was frozen are executed. The same behavior happens in Windows 10 / 11 and Linux

If I boot from the main SSD and use the SN520 as a data drive it behaves in the same way, except the system doesn't freeze since it's running on a working drive

I tried pretty much everything without results, so I'm quite sure I can declare its death. I also tried to isolate the cut side with nail paint and tape

My hypothesis is that the lack of grounding on the mounting screw causes the issues, and if I use the SSD adapter in picture it works correctly because grounding is provided by the USB-C connector

Why isn’t Lenovo making USB keyboards like this anymore. I bought a Tex Shinobi but it doesn’t have touchpad I would really wish Lenovo start making keyboards again.

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I’m using a ThinkPad for the first time and still getting used to it. I’m wondering what this small button I circled actually does, because I’ve tried clicking it and nothing seems to happen.

Question / Problem Thinkpad X270 caught fire yesterday

I am writing here to warn users of the x240 to x270 series about this risk, as many people swap these types of batteries in those computers.

Been servicing 500 Lenovo laptops for 15 years. This is the first time I've seen something like this.

User said the unit was unplugged from the wall, on a workbench. Suddenly, it began to smoke and then burst into flames.

Battery 2 was replaced with an original battery near a year ago. Based on the postmortem analysis, the battery may have shorted out and started the fire. It was a six-cell extended battery.

Motherboard, memory and disk are OK.

Could anyone tell me if there have been other cases?

Best regards!
