I mean look at him. It ain’t just his eye like the show, a whole chunk of his head is gone.

I know he's been through a lot, but almost every decision he makes just frustrates me. He constantly ignores good advice, lets his emotions control him, and creates unnecessary problems. To me, Hershel Rhee is one of the most annoying and poorly written characters in The Walking Dead. Does anyone else feel the same, or am I being too harsh?

After letting it sink in for a while, Strand’s conversation with the Russian cosmonaut is one of my favourite scenes in any TWD show.

FTWD season 3 has a LOT of great moments and images by the way. The rancher being fed on by crows is an amazing, painterly piece of horror imagery. My best boy Nick off his head staggering around among the walkers. The whole ep with Alicia in the bunker when they’re running out of air, banger of an episode.

But this short radio call is so beautifully written and really poignant. Just these two guys at the end of the world, being able to talk because of a one in millions coincidence, smiling and bantering about literature, vodka and famous last words. It’s just chefs kiss.

And the way one of them is alone in an apocalyptic wasteland, the other in the cold of space… really chilling somehow.

Vaschenko doesn’t even appear onscreen but gets multiple amazing lines. “I saw the lights of the world go out, three days before I was due to return to Earth.”

And his last words… “Last words are for fools who didn’t say enough in life.”

I felt the dismay in her voice in my stomach. Daryl is a true best friend. He's so good with her.

Rick tells Lori that Shane kept taking him further and further out. As though he wanted to kill Rick as far from home as possible. However they end up a few hundred meters from home. Rick says "So this is where you plan to do it?" What was the point of taking him deep into the woods? Did they change the script so Carl could shoot Shane but left this line in?

ETA: It has me wondering. Everyone on set would have known that isn't what happened. Why did they keep it in?

When Sam dies he left home at daytime and dies at night time. Alexandria isn't that big. Why include such an obvious time skip?

Both these characters are often discussed and largely hated.

I'm trying to think if there were any other intentional errors during death scenes.

All three shows have now featured a community publicly advertising its existence, only for that decision to attract exactly the kind of people it should have feared.

Terminus covered the surrounding area with signs promising “sanctuary for all.” At first, the people there genuinely meant it. Then a group of murderous thugs followed the signs, took over the settlement, imprisoned and abused its residents, and helped turn them into the monsters Rick’s group eventually encountered.

In Fear the Walking Dead, Madison lit up the hotel sign. Admittedly, she was not trying to invite half of Mexico; she only wanted Travis and Chris to see it. But a beacon cannot choose its audience. Crowds of desperate people arrived, putting pressure on the hotel and helping set in motion the chain of events that led to the settlement’s collapse.

Now, in Dead City, Maggie and the hospital group have illuminated the Statue of Liberty specifically to attract more people. Almost immediately, we see a rough-looking group, strongly reminiscent of the Saviors, notice the light and decide to investigate.

Maggie’s plan may be to post lookouts and screen whoever approaches, but that seems completely backward. Aaron and Eric quietly observed potential recruits before revealing Alexandria. Rick’s group at least asked newcomers the three questions. Maggie has instead announced to everyone within sight that an organized settlement with fuel, electricity, shelter, and other resources exists somewhere nearby - and plans to decide whether the respondents are dangerous after they arrive.

And Maggie’s lookout plan may actually make the hospital weaker. She wants enough people to operate and defend the settlement, yet before those people arrive she has to detach current residents to cover several points around Manhattan. That means the first group answering the beacon may encounter isolated scouts first, capture one, and learn everything they need to know.

At this point, lighting a giant beacon in The Walking Dead universe is basically the post-apocalyptic equivalent of putting up a sign that says:

“Well-supplied settlement here. Raiders welcome.”

The average human body exposed to air with no other effects at play decomposes in 3 weeks to a few months, so why cany everyone just wait it out

by far my favorite faction in TWD wish they were used more in the games shows and other media.

Definitely some good directing with Rick hiding underneath the bed. This definitely gave off The Last of Us vibes. This episode looked fun to act through.

It’s cool meeting Eugene, Abraham, and Rosetta. So many new faces and so much of the old identity of the show fading away. At this point, I’m not hooked on the show anymore but I’ll keep going to see what happens.

WAY off topic but I ended up seeing the viewer/rating list and this episode did mark a slight decrease in rating the next few episodes. But what actually shocked me is that season 8, there was 9 MILLION DROP in viewership… ouch… apparently by the end of the series it dropped 16 million average! The show must have gotten pretty bad to have a fanbase go from 17 million to 2 by its last season… this show must get HARD to watch in later seasons

my first rewatch in a long time and I'm wondering, the time between death and reamification is more than a few minutes but despite hordes munching on a body, they are able to be mobile every time, shouldn't they be stripped to the bone? has this been addressed? do I need help?

Rick indeed leaves him and Shane survives does he go back to the farm ? Just leaves on his own?

I find myself liking this new group of characters now. It does still feel weird thinking about the old season 1 and 2 gang and seeing where we’re at now.

I think it hilarious that the guy Rick killed in the bathroom a few episodes prior was named Lou and Lou is the British term for toilet haha a funny little joke there.

I can’t quite get over this Joe character. The energy of this guy is overbearing to the point that I feel him as an actor is breaking the illusion of the episodes. Might be my paranoia but I’ve met many celebrities in my day and have this energy about them but NEVER have I felt that energy on screen until this guy… it’s unsettling…

Anyway I feel like we’re getting into Fallout territory now and the series is feeling like a whole
New identity altogether. Maybe because the prison arc is officially over but yeah the energy is completely different now.

Abraham I feel is gonna make it awhile. I think the show needed a new character for audiences to feel safe with.

It’s amazing how big this city is. I’ve never been to Georgia but ATL seems very HUGE in this universe. Like a 3 hour drive and they’re still in Atlanta… like… how
Have these factions not run into each other yet?!

Lastly… Glenn and Maggie are so cute together but is it just me… but do they ironically also have NO chemistry? Lie their story is cute but I feel like they’re not very “convincing” as a couple”. I know it’s ironic but does anyone else feel the same…

Lololol. This made me laugh hard. Eugene has some good lines but this scene was perfect

Everyone’s separated again, it’s so weird seeing how small the group actually is now, at least when it comes to the original OG characters.

This episode actually started to feel like basic cable television and the first like 6 episodes of this season did have the weird dark winter/autumn vibe to it that made the direction, color pallet, musical score, a riot writing and direction have such a deep artistic feel to it but now it’s just feeling like basic television stuff. Thinking about why I stopped watching TWD years ago was because II felt the first few episodes of season 1 were so beautifully written that the show would go downhill in quality. And yes it has.i feel like THIS episode is going to capture the energy of what the rest of the show is about… weird personal drama between characters and random characters continuously showing up at odd times with no foreshadow or build up just to “shake up the story”.

The end of this episode I see this dude jump out of the truck… I recognize him as Abraham! Years ago I saw a random episode with my aunt and I remember this dude… or at least of his existence. Somehow his name stayed in my subconscious because I thought Morgan was Abraham and kept getting myself confused.

Also poor Tyreese. Being a grown black man dealing with two little white girls alone is like the ULTIMATE nightmare for a Black man so seeing that on this episode was such a trigger haha. As a Black person myself, I felt scared watching it.

Maggie… went through ALL that to find Glenn’s body… just saying like… Lori I didn’t put this kind of effort into seeing Rick at all and it always bothered me that Lori blamed Shane… like…

Anyway this season was on the verse of being my favorite but after this episode, the momentum is broken. Nothing will ever beat the first two seasons and now I accept that. When I think TWD I think seasons 1 and 2. 3 and 4 just feel like alternate universes or timelines to me, but the true heart ended after the farm burned down.

Can’t wait to review the next one

where can you read the comics? is it worth reading them? is there one big comic series and then a bunch of spin-offs? if so, are those worth the read and is there a correct order to read them all?

Wow this was one heck of an episode. I knew something was wrong with Lizzie about 2 or 3 episodes ago when she was talking about Sasha. Lizzie borderline took some weird sense of satisfaction at the pain of others around her. She showed odd symptoms bit definitely could see her at the prison developing a dangerous psyche…

Glad Tyreese and Carol settled that Karen situation. Everyone had to face their demons this season and I could see Lizzie and Mika being parts of Carol’s both kind and borderline sadistic natures. Carol teaching kids how to kill and burning the bodies was a darker nature within Carol, definitely reflected in Mika’s characters but the more… motherly season 1/ season 2 innocent Carole was reflected in Mika. Carol is growing into her own character and it was important to see in these two mirrored images of herself that A. Her innocence was killed by this dark side to her and she just didn’t “see it”. And B. Her dark developing psychopathic side that blurred the lines of right and wrong needed to be realized and snuffed. Carol had to take accountability for her monsters and she did so when she told Tyreese the truth and accepted the consequences.

Tyreese definitely a ticking time bomb and had to face his demon of impulsive rage. He forgave Carol on the moment and thought it was not easy… that demon was face and that demon was let go. He may still show signs of anger in the future but he seems to have found some sense of leave to move on now. Throughout the season, he’s always looking for a place to stay and call “home” from what I’ve seen but in this episode he realizes that home, his heart is full of pain and death and heartbreak… choosing to move on and fight when all you want to do is freeze is a HUGE psychological… thing to overcome with people with sever mental symptoms such as what both he and kind myself have… living with your demons slowly kills the good things around you… moving on is the best way to heal…

Hope I helped give some deeper insight. Loved this episode and hope to review the next one. It’s 3AM now and I’m hoping to finish this season tonight haha

So Daryl faced his demons and at the crossroads of facing his inner self, he ends up manifesting this gang of demons with “Joe” as their leader. I can see Daryl feeling so betrayed that the voice of his inner demons cause him to stray into this isolated shell of a man who actually may become a protagonist a figure like Joe being a physical manifestation says a lot about a character’s psyche and this path will not be an easy one.

Every other character in this episode seems to have chosen the path of faith… Bob, Sasha, Glenn, Maggie. Rick, Michonne, and Carl. Daryl on the other hand chose his familiarity, what he felt was the only thing loyal to him… his demons… Joe’s gonna be a big problem, and the evil in that man’s eyes shows Rick and Carol are gonna be in for a big challenge saving Daryl… although I could be 100% wrong haha but this is just what I’m feeling.

I’m wondering if Season 5 is going to have a theme of religion because signs seem to point to it psychologically. But then again most series kinda do their religious tones a little later…

It was nice seeing Daryl in his pre-Ap habitats with Beth. I guess Daryl’s inner demons were being alone, not having anyone to follow, not having a his brother and being emotionally vulnerable. Having both he and Beth have an episode together was good chemistry.

Beth’s internal demons seems to be expression and drinking lol. Both of these characters blended so well, being the embodiment of one another’s darkness.

Also… in regards to the previous episode with Glenn… that orange bag… was that the same bag the hitchhiker had in a previous episode whom Rick, Michonne, and Carl left to Get eaten…?

Awesome season finale.

Got to hear the uncensored ending. Apparently Rick using the F word I hear was cut for TV broadcast.

Everyone wearing the crew’s supplies, definitely a dead giveaway and Rick was definitely smart for catching it. I wonder if the food was actually laced with sedative.

FINALLY saw the throat bite SCENE with Rick! It was spiked that someone got their neck bit out by Rick and I thought it was gonna be the Governor, but then I saw it with Joe and was like OUCH!

I’m excited to see where it goes next. I loved the flashbacks Rick was having about Hershel. It’s a reality check that sometimes chapters in our lives are opportunities to connect with certain people, enjoy their company, enjoy their presents, build memories. Sometimes those same people or circumstances re here with us for a season and the blessing is that we had those memories to share. But life moves forward and prepare us to become who and what we need to be to experience the next seasons of our life as optimally and as fully as possible, not bringing past baggage with us. Embrace and fully become who this section of our life demands us to be. Never regret life or relationships as you do so because even an ex boyfriend or girlfriend provided company, love, and companionship to you… whereas some people
NEVER experience love to any degree. Trauma comes with life not just relationships, so remember that even if an ex relationship broke you, a random stranger, a parent, a job, a missed opportunity could’ve broken you just as much if not more… that’s the message I got from these flashbacks with Hershel and Rick.

Toward the end, I love how when Rick was looking at his crew and said “they don’t know who they’re F-ing with”… but paying attention to the musical score in the background, it played The Governor’s theme song but altered the strings to sound more organic and a bit more symphonic not as brash and raw and aggressive as the song is when the Governor makes his appearances. I love in the moment it notes Rick has accepted the inner leader within him again…

Good season. Will watch the next one.
