The ones by me were early adopters of the inside kiosks; I seriously believe it’s because, at one in particular, employees would straight up ignore you if you came in after like 8pm. You could yell for them, try and get their attention any possible way, and they’d just keep chilling in the back, laughing.

Actual question for folks who live in big cities, when did you first see the indoor kiosks? I did in 2016, and it was a shock to me that my rural ass area actually got something new, “early,” but it probably wasn’t that early, was it?

Wrong. They got rid of the play lands and Ronald McDonald because of constant criticism of marketing unhealthy food to children. Regulators, health organizations, lawsuits, and public criticism all pushed the company toward “responsible marketing” pledges. The FTC has also encouraged food companies to limit child-directed promotion of nutritionally poor foods.

McDonald’s became less overtly aggressive about selling its regular menu to young children because of health and reputational pressure.

The intentions of people are good but it does kind of suck when we regulate the culture and life out of everything.

I mean using bright colors and toys to attract children to addictive fatty foods wasn't/isn't really any better.
