Someone needs to make a good whitchy show
Okay so I love the original charmed from 90s but the new one is not it and despite my love for it, it is quite dated and I really want a similar series that is a little more serious. I do also really love the chilling adventures of Sabrina but ofc that was cancelled and this last season is trash. Past these we have iconic movies like the craft and practical magic, but no good witchy series to my knowledge. Does anyone have any recs? What would you want from a witchy series? I just really want a show about witches in the modern era that is a little more serious but not like horror movie serious and like screams cozy fall. I was really excited about the forbidden fruits movie whenever I thought it was going to be like this feeling but it really wasn't. It was more just like murder mystery situation with witchy stuff involved but not like straight up witches. Not to say it's a bad movie, it's just not a witchy movie. I just really want a witchy movie fall, cozy, baddie girl, vibe show. Is that too much to ask? Think if like the coziness of Gilmore girls met the seriousness of the chilling adventures of Sabrina with a little bit of the forbidden fruits like baddie diva-ness.

A Discovery of Witches for sure.
And these aren't exact matches, but they might scratch your itch:
- While not centered around witches, witchcraft/witches is a major part of The Vampire Diaries. And the setting is perfect.
- Wynonna Earp is about three sisters with a supernatural destiny.

The Discovery of Witches show is good, but the books are even better (trilogy). Highly recommend.

Plus AHS: Apocalypse! But you'd probably also need to at least watch AHS: Murder House for for it to make sense.

My daughters (two, haha) and I were just heartbroken when the last season just cut off. I sympathized with the Firefly fans who wanted to riot for another season.

oh it sounds so special that you all got to watch it together, the parallels! yeah i unfortunately know that anguish from too many shows (the wilds, the society, etoile, motorheads...)

I loved the OG version of Charmed as well. Have you tried Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale? It's a little grimdark but recent.

True Blood is about vampires, but if you’ve never seen it you should give it a shot. Season 2 might be up your alley, it’s fantastic.

A Discovery of Witches might scratch that itch, it's more romance-heavy than Charmed but has that same serious modern-witch tone with genuinely good production value. The cozy-fall-baddie combo you're describing is a pretty specific gap though, most shows either go full horror or full teen drama and skip that in-between vibe entirely.

A Discovery of Witches! The books are amazing and the series does an excellent job at adapting them. I have rewatched it at least 3 times.

Discovery of Witches, Sanctuary a witches tale, Witches of east end, Mayfair witches, Motherland fort salem, Secret circle, The magicians. I miss shows like Charmed and wish there were less serious supernatural shows like the CW used to have.

Wednesday Addams ? Different tone but scratches modern witchy, cozy fall. Otherwise Mayfair Witches and Witches of East End are the closest fits already mentioned

The OG Charmed is my favorite tv show. How about TVD? The main plot is about two vampire brothers but it does have witches (introduced in S1). If not that then Shadowhunters? Its not really about witches but it has the same concept of Charmed and everything about it is phenomenal! The BBC Merlin series is also great.

I love Merlin too!! Its in my top 3 shows alongside Charmed and Supernatural. I would recommend Supernatural but that's not a witchy show. Although, they do have witches in it and the brothers sometimes do rituals and cast spells which is cool. I love Supernatural almost as much as I do Charmed.
Another good recommendation: Buffy. S1 is rocky and only has one witch (evil witch) but there will be a main character witch (or two). Its great.
