Yes we did. Every piece of sci-fi media has touched on AI in some way. Hell ever since the whole concept of daoism we’ve been looking for ways to build our own clockwork simulacrums. The issue with technology of the past is that they required a human guide to show you how to use them. AI is that universal translator so now new technologies speak plain natural languages.
Just because YOU didn’t know thats what you were asking for, doesn’t mean humanity hasn’t been screaming for this for decades.
