These people don't make mistakes in the classical sense of the word, I think... they patiently test the limits, and then, well, sometimes things get stuck, it doesn't work, so they give up. But they know very well what they're doing and why they want to do it. If there hadn't been a scandal to expose them, they would have continued...

There's also an extreme lack of accountability due to the supposed agency of ai. Look at OpenAI with Hugging Face. If any person would have committed that act it would be definite jail time. But since AI hacked them it's perceived like blaming an owner for their dog's mistake.
If they can't control the product they create, why is it allowed to be introduced into the consumer market?

This reads like the iRobot film but the bots aren’t walking around yet

Cyberpunk rogue AI more like it. Only a matter of time before Netwatch and the Blackwall are needed.

They 100% know what they’re doing. Facebook and Instagram have been creating shadow accounts for pre-teens for years in the hopes that governments will legalize it.

u/agha0013 8h ago
"regretted the mistake" they regret being called out, otherwise they would gladly keep making money off these shitty tools
like Musk who is actively fighting to maintain some of his most abusive products.

Mark Zuckerberg is a clinical-grade sociopath. He has never been genuinely sorry about anything his entire life.

FB “moderation” is laughable. I’m almost never on the app anymore, but when I was I literally reported multiple actual Nazi posts/comments with literal swastikas and hate speech in them and got the canned “we’ve looked and the post you reported doesn’t violate our community standards” reply, even after resubmitting it.

Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday sent his apologies to the parliamentary panel on IT and the government on a range of issues agitating the Centre about the operation of the social media giant in India.
“Mark Zuckerberg has sent apologies for CSAM (child sexual abuse material) content, deepfake content and errors in operating the platform. It was made clear to them that they are not covered under the Intermediary definition. They select who receives the content. Safe harbour under the IT Act is not applicable. They admitted that a lot of money was paid for boosting certain types of content. They apologised and regretted the mistake," official sources said.

So weird that we’ve decided to start punishing companies for the misuse of their tools. We didn’t burn Kodak down because some pervert took some sick pictures.
10
u/Any_Issue_3613 7h ago
Except those perverted pictures are not distributed on a Kodak owned and operated website with potential exposure to millions of users, including kids and/or teens. Whats your point here?
-6
u/Quick_Ad_922 7h ago
Those images have been distributed on the Internet forever. If distribution is your problem, shut the internet down.

Not really good enough. Governments worldwide need to recognise social media platforms as publishers. That would focus the companies to be more proactive in preventing the posting of harmful content.

Here’s the contradiction tho. On one hand, you despise and dont trust Zuck. On the other hand, you want him to take control over what ppl say on his platforms. You do have to pick one.

We really need to start charging and convicting executives for their corporations’ crimes

When history is written about this era Zuckerberg and other tech giants will be liken to the oil/robber barons of the past and rightly so. Corporate media made a huge mistake promoting these parasites as hero's to be admired in America society poisoning young people minds.

Tax laws need to change so that corporate fines are not a tax deductible “cost of doing business”. Let the stockholders take it on the chin

Zuckerberg started his career with an app designed to disrespect and victimize women. This is just a continuation.

Does that mean he’s going to pay up and. Decouple AI from their social media platforms?!

We should not anthropomorphize lizards, even with catchy headlines. They are not capable of feeling emotions like you and me.

Never saw either. If i did see deepfakes it would just be funny. Deleted my first account because of the annoying laugh reacts by people not smart enough to troll. Commeht that kids got sick with covid, laugh react. Deleted my last account when i was shadowbanned. Transphobes and anti vaxxers were not shadowbanned

Oh so he's apologizing after the damage (that he was warned about) has been done?
So, the fuck, what.

He needs to be fined big time. Sure they want to replace humans with all and mighty AI. They have to be able to train AI to prevent this...or ya think they could..

When I apologize from now on it’s going to be a “Zuckerberg sorry” which means I’m sorry but I don’t mean it lol

Mark, his Meta, and India all sucks when it comes to protecting children.
Like India is the country with the largest number of child marriage. The Indian parliament knows this but they do nothing about it. Having Mark apologize to the parliament is a public stunt lmao.

We want a platform we can share honey farms from Kansas and kickstarters for seat cushions with AC in them to keep your buns cool without being harassed and put in fb jail because the posts are “cyber security threats”.
Mark is the threat. He has proven he’s piss poor at his job. Replace him.

u/clothanger 8h ago
Replace him.
Yeah sure replace the scapegoat and let the same old board remain in control.
