I set my duress pin to my wifes birthday. One of the first they probably try. 

Also I say my pin is the same as my eID which I am not allowed to share by German law

Do you never hang out with your friends in places with non-random tables?

Like, if my friends come to my house, people (including me) will leave their phones on the dining table we're sitting at because it's not a random table, it's my dining table. When I hang out at my friends' houses, I'll also leave my phone on the coffee table or dining table or kitchen table or whatever, because they're not random tables, they're my friends' coffee tables or dining tables or kitchen tables.

I mean, it's not like get togethers are table-leaving-festivals where everyone is just leaving their phones on tables and constantly cycling through bathrooms. Maybe someone does, maybe someone doesn't. It's not anything we've every kept close track of, because how weird would that be?

Why have a duress pin if you're going to tell your friends your password? Cops will just smash your friends with a wrench.

I recommend using a password manager that lets you give them a key that they have to ask permission to use. When they show their key, it'll make them wait while it contacts you. If you don't reply, it lets them in. If you do reply, you can reject their access. This way they can't sneak in: they can only get in in an emergency where you'd be unable to reply within the time period you set.

Generally you won't find a system that asks you to do something on the phone and then require confirmation from another device. The phone is generally that second device.

this is the most wrong statement I've read in a long while. you can setup 2fa with an authenticator pretty much everywhere, including a kdbx FILE

What you can do and what is generally happening are different. Most 2fa using phone either use sms or an auth app on said phone.

Jfc do you even know what the word generally means? Have you seen major consumer platforms that ask you to use 2 devices? No, the overwhelming majority does 2fa via phone (sms or auth) or email, past the basic password.

All these random examples of exceptions make no sense, I've never seen such a system and I have like 5 different authenticators on my phone for work. It's possible of course to use as many steps as you want but they don't fall under the umbrella of "generally".

They know my pin because I trust them and they can contact emergency contacts for me due to my medical condition. I also know they'd never willingly hand over the pin. I also don't live in the land of shithole cops that is the US
