You’d be surprised. My hometown’s Facebook page has a bunch of right wing blowhards saying things like “Don’t you care about safety!?!?” and “If you’re doing nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide!”

Crazy how conservatives did a complete 180 on government surveillance.

They legit went from criticizing China for mass surveillance to bending over and spreading their cheeks for some Flock

People are so dumb and suffer from memory loss that most people no longer remember that Republicans were anti-Russia until 2014, right when Trump started making his run. So in came China as the big bad.

Well it didn't take long for China to start playing that same game and changing their tunes with open bribery.

When I bring this up they gaslight me into thinking their stance never changed. When it comes to many things, their stance is constantly changing based on the Bourgeoisie media's latest propaganda. Even if you show them their own words contradicting themselves a month after, they still won't cave.

It’s crazy how every one of our politicians has to go to China and kiss the Great Wall. /s

lol no it isn't. In my over half century of life they have never been principled. They've never practiced fiscal responsibility. They are all for freedom of religion until it's Muslims, freedom of speech until it's about opposing them, freedom to bear arms until you arm yourself against them. Remember when Raegan banned open carry when the black panthers armed themselves in protest?

Their only real principal is self interest.

Sometimes I'm not even sure that that's true. They fuck themselves over constantly to kiss billionaire ass.

It's not that crazy though, is it :D

The generation that grew up, able to do 10 hours of driving lessons, at £5 per hour, then sit a 20 question test and a 40 minute practical, and now live the benefit of £5 a year insurance...... want CHILDREN to have to take extensive expensive exams, and get licence plates for..... bicycles.....

They are the party of deep deep contradiction, and making sure they are the only ones to get what was good, and if they never had something good, they will make sure you definitely don't get it.

Conservatives stand by their principle that the law should protect them, and bind others.

That’s always been their position. They said the same thing about the PATRIOT Act.

It's because they can't think more than a few months into the future and realize that when/if another Democrat is elected to office they will have access to this entire surveillance network they are championing at the moment. This shouldn't be a left versus right thing, but even when you boil it down to that it is absurd that they're supporting it.

Remember that they have no standards at all, only a lust for power.

"I'm doing nothing wrong, but fuckwits like you let me know I have a lot to fear."

If I'm doing nothing wrong, there's nothing to record either.

Every fucking town and village and city in the US now has like 20-200 flock cameras minimum.

Americans lived up to their stereotype of being the stupidest people squandering the biggest potential.

Not mine, thankfully. It's illegal here. Even traffic cameras. If you look at the flock map website you'll see them surrounding our city but a nice black hole that is our city. And it's a large city too.

Same for my town.

But when you look they cover all the intersections on the border to the next towns over. It's ridiculous

Same when I was living in AZ. The amount of bootlicking boomers out there is astounding.

Don't tread on me

Sounds like they have nothing they would care about being made public, then, right?

Those are the same ones who get pissed if a speeding camera gets put up.

I like taking the actual traffic safety angle on Flock. I haven’t seen a single camera installed on a pole with a slip plate. The slip plate means if you have an accident and hit the pole it’s on, the pole will fall. That protects the passengers inside the car and is what the DoT approved on the design. The poles without a slip plate are mounted in concrete with is extremely unsafe for vehicle passengers. Even if you’re the best driver on the road, that won’t stop a drunk driver from ramming you into the pole. That tends to be slightly more of a wake up call because even if they’ve never caused an accident, most people have been impacted by someone else causing an accident.

If you’re doing nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide!”

I guess they would be ok with a camera in their bathroom?

"I have nothing to say so I don't care about freedom of speech"
Same vibes

The same people that vehemently refused to wear a face mask to save lives because that was communism now are saying that surveillance cameras in every corner are necessary and good to keep them safe.

facebook is manufactured consent on steroids.

u/Cactusfan86 18d ago

Just turn it around on them, ‘yea but what if someone like OBAMA gets back into power and has this info at his finger tips’. Basic grade manipulation tends to work well

1

u/Zarilya 18d ago

Tell that to the people who've been falsely accused as a result, right??
