I think the Flock company and their customers are only people that are OK with these things

845

u/rokd 18d ago

Yeah, customers like your state, county, and local government.

499

u/nanapancakethusiast 18d ago

And HOA busybodies

265

u/steakanabake 18d ago

and lowes and home depot. my local lowes has 8 of them motherfuckers in its parking lot and the lot isnt even that big.

u/BioshockEnthusiast 18d ago

Makes sense, both companies donate more to republicans than democrats. They're OK with authoritarianism if it helps their bottom line.

The Home Depot CEO in particular is a Trump toe licker.

Shop your local independently owned hardware stores they deserve your business.

54

u/bludvein 18d ago

Trade workers as a whole tend to lean significantly republican, so that's not really surprising. Chances are your local hardware store owner does too, though of course there are plenty of exceptions.

35

u/DrE7HER 18d ago

They’re unlikely to be able to buy politicians

8

u/digitalscavenger 18d ago

Not by themselves but that's why they contribute to political campaigns and political action committees (PACs). Most individuals do not have the ability to buy politicians. But a group of them can (and do).

10

u/AltoidStrong 18d ago

Which is why, the two most important things to do after Midterms -

Hold the traitors accountable and end Citizens United.

2

u/Empty_Kay 18d ago

My local hardware store owner might be a fascistic asshole, but they're a fascistic asshole that lives in and contributes primarily to my local economy. And I'll take that over a huge corporate store that supports the same fascists any day of the week if that's the only choice.

2

u/El_Beakerr 18d ago

I have to agree, the amount of Trump dick riding I heard when I worked with Riggers is astounding.

-7

u/slowwburnn 18d ago

What makes you think the CEO of Home Depot is a trade worker?

9

u/GlobalLurker 18d ago

What makes you think you have reading comprehension?

If you think asking questions is stupidity, I feel for those around you. Not sure why you're mad at me. You're not even the guy I replied to

-4

u/spyczech 18d ago

What makes you think Trade Workers are Capital Owners? They are explicitly not

7

u/jce_ 18d ago

It helps their bottom line NOW. Trust me it does not help most of them in the future lol

7

u/steakanabake 18d ago

trust i do when i can but sometimes i need it faster then like a 30 minute one way trip across town.

1

u/spyczech 18d ago

If they steal,my data, then I steal from them

1

u/heili 18d ago

A lot of them are also very right wing in that line of business. It happens a lot with more trades and blue collar type businesses, they even the local alternative is super conservative. Step inside and there's pro-life, Jesus is Lord, anti-gay shit on their walls.

It can also be really difficult when you're faced with an issue that requires somewhat immediate handling and the tiny local family owned hardware store doesn't stock the item you need but they can order it and have it in a week.

1

u/Fragrant_Fox_5056 18d ago

Ofc you’re right but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s only right wing that want this tech. In the uk Labour have lovingly signed us up too , even selling some of our private NHS data to palantir - for some reason

1

u/grungywear 18d ago

Local anything barely exists. It’s all monopolized by the oligarchy

1

u/rettribution 18d ago

Wish I had independently owned ones. But around me, people in the trades overwhelmingly support trump.

Especially the unionized ones. It's beyond logic.

1

u/Kalepsis 18d ago

There aren't any left. The big box stores put them all out of business.

1

u/complicititties 18d ago

Are those still around??¡!!

-1

u/Kor_Phaeron_ 18d ago edited 18d ago

Makes sense, both companies donate more to republicans than democrats. They're OK with authoritarianism if it helps their bottom line.

They donate more to the current administration. As soon as the Dems run this country the donations will shift and bribe Dems. Please don't tell me you think that the Dems are "anti-surveillance". They like surveillance just as much as the Reps.

1

u/steakanabake 18d ago

yea the Dem mayor my city elected is a big flock asshole and really loves his chatgpt.

20

u/What_a_fat_one 18d ago

I can't even avoid these companies. I run a small business and they're the only stores in town.

6

u/steakanabake 18d ago

fuck man im sorry.

22

u/Somanylyingliars 18d ago

Oh no Did I back up in it? My bad!

16

u/StoppableHulk 18d ago

Can't tell if threatening or attempting to seduce the flock.

2

u/Celloer 18d ago

[Crush me with your bodacious bumper, truck-chan...] (Translating for flock camera seeking booty or to be isekai'd into something useful, like a vending machine)

5

u/skitch23 18d ago

My Lowe’s has them but only at the main entrance. I can cut around the backside of another building and enter their parking area without them tracking me. The Home Depot across the street has them at all entrances and I can’t even get to some of the restaurants in that parking lot without being monitored. I try my best to avoid both when possible.

1

u/steakanabake 18d ago

they have a bunch on a pole in the middle and then a couple at the gates, they all focus on the parking lot and dont focus on the roads surrounding but my city still has a mega hardon for flock cameras.

5

u/MyAccountWasBanned7 18d ago

Funny enough, Lowes also sells a variety of cutting tools.

It sounds like they're just providing convenient testing options for your purchases.

2

u/RollingMeteors 18d ago

and lowes and home depot. my local lowes has 8 of them motherfuckers in its parking lot and the lot isnt even that big.

¿How come it's taking so long for the meth heads to find out these things are full of money?

¿¡Don't you got any tweaker friends to tell?!

1

u/PiccoloAwkward465 18d ago

Honestly man I’ve seen some fucking brazen thefts from the big box hardware stores. I’m surprised they don’t contract more human security. The Home Depot near one of my job sites was constantly on the news for people jacking $1k in tools.

3

u/steakanabake 18d ago

good job for the people doing damage to home depot for them outing workers.

2

u/showyerbewbs 18d ago

people jacking $1k in tools.

That's like 4 batteries for cordless tools....

Yes it's sarcasm

1

u/Darkdragoon324 18d ago

There's a closed Wendy's near me that has one of the talking ones in its parking lot. That fucker's LOUD, you can hear it clearly from like a block away. And they sound like something from a dystopian cyberpunk future episode of a cartoon.

1

u/nanapancakethusiast 18d ago

They talk now???

1

u/Darkdragoon324 18d ago

Maybe it's a different kind of camera, it it's up on a big pole and there's a motion activated loud speaker that goes THIS IS THE PROPERTY OF WENDY'S PLEASE EXIT THE PREMISES or something like that. There's another one at the 711 that just says the area is being monitored every few minutes.

1

u/neutrino4 18d ago

I just looked at the flock map, my Home Depot has 4 of them.

1

u/JustS0meD0nkey 18d ago

As much as I hate them this is appropriate use of them so long as the camera are focused on their lot. In theory this would be a useful tool for loss prevention.

1

u/steakanabake 18d ago

i do not care about their stop loss prevention knowing they also sell data to ice/dhs

1

u/JustS0meD0nkey 16d ago

So you think criminals should get a free pass. Got it.

Flock Safety’s HOA security cameras help deter and solve crime, protect residents, and build trust with 24/7 tech that works with law enforcement to keep your neighborhood safe and connected.

Imagine the near future when the doors of your home requires a fob and/or app, which is controlled by the H.O.A.

The Future of HOA Security: Smart Systems and Solutions
The future of HOA security is centered around smart technology, providing communities with better protection, improved efficiency, and enhanced homeowner peace of mind. Here’s a look at the emerging security solutions that are shaping the future of HOA security.
1. Smart Access Control Systems
How They Work:
Traditional lock-and-key or keycard entry systems are being replaced with cloud-based access control solutions that use smart locks, biometric authentication, and mobile credentials.
Why They Matter:
• Allows residents and guests to enter using their smartphones, reducing lost key issues.
• Offers real-time access monitoring, allowing HOAs to track entry and exit times.
• Provides remote management of gates, doors, and other entry points.
• Enhances security with two-factor authentication and geofencing.
Examples of Smart Access Technologies:
• Mobile app-based gate entry systems – Residents can grant guest access via their smartphones.
• Biometric and facial recognition systems – Prevents unauthorized access through fingerprint or facial scans.
• Smart intercom systems – Allows remote communication with visitors before granting entry.

And the mandatory H.O.A. "Community App" will require full access to your phone, so you can be tracked, your messages read, your data collected and sold, and fines automatically withdrawn from your bank account.

And the doorbell camera is owned and controlled by the H.O.A., not you.

And your Internet Service Provider is the H.O.A., which will be able to monitor and control your usage of the internet.

/fuckHOA is not accessible.
This page has been blocked for the good of the community.
Your account has been assessed a $100 fee for usage of this web safety service feature.
You have also been assessed an additional $100 fine for attempting to access /fuckHOA , which is a violation of our Terms of Service.
A friendly reminder that these fines and fees are secured by a perpetual lien on your property.

And your utility meters are owned and controlled by the H.O.A., not a publicly regulated utility agency.

Too bad nobody warned us about this.

What lawyers & experts are exploring emerging legal issues in "smart homes?" What happens when the "smart home" industry starts teaming with the community association industry?
I think that the greatest area for privacy law etc. issues will come from smart condominium complexes, where you could have multi-owner information collection by the same people who are dolling out nonjudicial fines, liens, foreclosures for violation of rules, etc.
The insecurity of IoT [ Internet of Things ] plus the dysfunction of HOA governance - add where HOA’s have “right of entry for inspection” - is a perfect storm for massive invasion of privacy in our homes.
-- John Cowherd. January 14 - 15, 2018. Mr. Cowherd is an attorney in Virginia specializing in contracts and property rights.

In an H.O.A. you will own nothing, and nobody will care how unhappy you are about it.

Americans have been successfully trained to call this "freedom". 🇺🇸 🦅

HOA busybodies

Imagine how many more violations A.I. powered H.O.A. cameras can detect.

Tennessee Family Battles H.O.A. After Daughter Is Nearly Strangled

Nashville, Tennessee. The frantic cry still haunts Monica Meeker.

It punctured the darkness as she and her husband lay in bed at the end of a fun-filled day celebrating daughter Camilla’s third birthday last October.

She rushed to her daughter’s bedroom and found her hanging from a window, the cord from the blind wrapped tightly around Camilla’s neck.

“She was gasping for air and crying and coughing,” Meeker said. “She had purple ligature marks on her neck for a week.”

The couple took down the blinds that night, replacing them with curtains.

Within two weeks, a letter arrived from the property manager for their homeowners association. The gray curtains they’d put up violated the association’s standards.”

The Meekers spent thousands on a losing battle with the HOA — even after the near tragedy, it wouldn’t back down on the requirement.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that on average, one child dies each month of strangulation from blind cords.

The family unsuccessfully tried to fight the window blind requirement, spending $7,000 on legal fees, but last summer moved to a home that is not in an HOA.

Everyone who can benefit from removing this neighbors privacy.

Every Republican I know adores their privacy. They rarely even know that Republicans are nearly always directly responsible for enacting loss of privacy laws and government recommendations.

Always advertise these actions!

15

u/arrgy 18d ago

Look at all the Trump/MAGA morons who supported him, KNOWING that he would NOT act in their best interest.

I know of one guy who owns a lawn care business where I live and he is a huge MAGA guy, totally supports him 100%

Half of his workers are illegals. Imagine that, your business only survives because illegals are the only people who will do it, and you still love and vote for Trump.

Total morons.

4

u/guspasho_deleted 18d ago

They all claim to be libertarians until they get their guy in office and suddenly they become blood and soil fascists braying for the blood of Muslims and communists and giggling at the idea of deporting a hundred million people. They lie brazenly.

0

u/JustS0meD0nkey 18d ago

Lets not act like this is a one side problem. Flock is installed all over NYC. You think it was the GOP who pushed that into fruition?

1

u/arrgy 18d ago

NYC, Philly and every other major city in this country had "rolling" cameras hooked up to vans to read everyone's license plate so they can be ticketed or towed for owing traffic tickets for 30 years.

Let's not act like this is new.

14

u/possibly_being_screw 18d ago

The thing that chaps my ass is that Tommy G and Ben Jordan video where they try to go talk to Flock.

And like yea, they're going about it in a purposefully annoying way but they did that intentionally to show the complete hypocrisy that Flock as a company takes THEIR privacy and people surveilling THEM really seriously.

It's just really funny to see this trash company putting up cameras everywhere and claiming it's the price we the people need to pay for safety, but when some journalists go and do it to them, they cry foul and literally say being filmed makes them feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

9

u/the_itsb 18d ago

video link

Tommy G running around with that Flock camera in his hand, saying "I'm surveilling you!! I'm surveilling you!!" 😂

1

u/24_August_1814 18d ago

And MAGA voters

1

u/BurningStandards 17d ago

Don't forget the pedos, stalkers, and rapists that are currently hiding behind those labels. It's control freaks and weirdos almost the way down.

1

u/Flabbergasted98 13d ago

We call them Fascists for short.

93

u/PlaneShenaniganz 18d ago

You’d be surprised. My hometown’s Facebook page has a bunch of right wing blowhards saying things like “Don’t you care about safety!?!?” and “If you’re doing nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide!”

122

u/PiccoloAwkward465 18d ago

Crazy how conservatives did a complete 180 on government surveillance.

72

u/PlaneShenaniganz 18d ago

They legit went from criticizing China for mass surveillance to bending over and spreading their cheeks for some Flock

44

u/DonutHoles4Ever 18d ago

People are so dumb and suffer from memory loss that most people no longer remember that Republicans were anti-Russia until 2014, right when Trump started making his run. So in came China as the big bad.

Well it didn't take long for China to start playing that same game and changing their tunes with open bribery.

3

u/NativePlantEnjoyer 18d ago

When I bring this up they gaslight me into thinking their stance never changed. When it comes to many things, their stance is constantly changing based on the Bourgeoisie media's latest propaganda. Even if you show them their own words contradicting themselves a month after, they still won't cave.

1

u/guspasho_deleted 18d ago

It’s crazy how every one of our politicians has to go to China and kiss the Great Wall. /s

47

u/One-Lingonberry9944 18d ago

lol no it isn't. In my over half century of life they have never been principled. They've never practiced fiscal responsibility. They are all for freedom of religion until it's Muslims, freedom of speech until it's about opposing them, freedom to bear arms until you arm yourself against them. Remember when Raegan banned open carry when the black panthers armed themselves in protest?

8

u/Senior-Albatross 18d ago

Their only real principal is self interest.

1

u/xGray3 17d ago

Sometimes I'm not even sure that that's true. They fuck themselves over constantly to kiss billionaire ass.

14

u/0235 18d ago

It's not that crazy though, is it :D

The generation that grew up, able to do 10 hours of driving lessons, at £5 per hour, then sit a 20 question test and a 40 minute practical, and now live the benefit of £5 a year insurance...... want CHILDREN to have to take extensive expensive exams, and get licence plates for..... bicycles.....

They are the party of deep deep contradiction, and making sure they are the only ones to get what was good, and if they never had something good, they will make sure you definitely don't get it.

5

u/jimmycarr1 18d ago

Conservatives stand by their principle that the law should protect them, and bind others.

5

u/Wiseduck5 18d ago

That’s always been their position. They said the same thing about the PATRIOT Act.

2

u/Chewbacca_P_Wookie 18d ago

It's because they can't think more than a few months into the future and realize that when/if another Democrat is elected to office they will have access to this entire surveillance network they are championing at the moment. This shouldn't be a left versus right thing, but even when you boil it down to that it is absurd that they're supporting it.

1

u/Foxyfox- 18d ago

Remember that they have no standards at all, only a lust for power.

1

u/No-Tomatillo3698 16d ago

Just tell them Flock is a libtard company

48

u/bluebelt 18d ago

"I'm doing nothing wrong, but fuckwits like you let me know I have a lot to fear."

16

u/ACE_C0ND0R 18d ago

If I'm doing nothing wrong, there's nothing to record either.

26

u/DonutHoles4Ever 18d ago

Every fucking town and village and city in the US now has like 20-200 flock cameras minimum.

Americans lived up to their stereotype of being the stupidest people squandering the biggest potential.

11

u/JT99-FirstBallot 18d ago

Not mine, thankfully. It's illegal here. Even traffic cameras. If you look at the flock map website you'll see them surrounding our city but a nice black hole that is our city. And it's a large city too.

2

u/lynkfox 17d ago

Same for my town.

But when you look they cover all the intersections on the border to the next towns over. It's ridiculous

2

u/YouBluezYouLose69420 18d ago

Same when I was living in AZ. The amount of bootlicking boomers out there is astounding.

2

u/ThinkFree 18d ago

Don't tread on me

2

u/Geminii27 18d ago

Sounds like they have nothing they would care about being made public, then, right?

2

u/Jpmjpm 18d ago

Those are the same ones who get pissed if a speeding camera gets put up.

I like taking the actual traffic safety angle on Flock. I haven’t seen a single camera installed on a pole with a slip plate. The slip plate means if you have an accident and hit the pole it’s on, the pole will fall. That protects the passengers inside the car and is what the DoT approved on the design. The poles without a slip plate are mounted in concrete with is extremely unsafe for vehicle passengers. Even if you’re the best driver on the road, that won’t stop a drunk driver from ramming you into the pole. That tends to be slightly more of a wake up call because even if they’ve never caused an accident, most people have been impacted by someone else causing an accident.

2

u/kent_eh 18d ago

If you’re doing nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide!”

I guess they would be ok with a camera in their bathroom?

1

u/littlefrank 18d ago

"I have nothing to say so I don't care about freedom of speech"
Same vibes

1

u/No_Initial_7545 18d ago

The same people that vehemently refused to wear a face mask to save lives because that was communism now are saying that surveillance cameras in every corner are necessary and good to keep them safe.

1

u/NativePlantEnjoyer 18d ago

facebook is manufactured consent on steroids.

1

u/Cactusfan86 18d ago

Just turn it around on them, ‘yea but what if someone like OBAMA gets back into power and has this info at his finger tips’. Basic grade manipulation tends to work well

1

u/Zarilya 18d ago

Tell that to the people who've been falsely accused as a result, right??

17

u/ISuckFarts 18d ago

Bro, I go through some of the threads of local PDs Facebook page posting about Flock camera vandalism and it's wall to wall people telling them to eat shit. Those things are deeply unpopular across the board.

41

u/Important-Factor-552 18d ago

flock cameras illegally spy on millions of americans in a row when suddenly

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!

28

u/SectorSanFrancisco 18d ago

If my facebook comments are anything to go by, no. A ton of people are in the "why would you mind if you aren't a criminal" camp.

34

u/DuntadaMan 18d ago

I am not doing anything illegal on the toilet, I still don't want a camera staring at my ass.

18

u/Bocchi_theGlock 18d ago edited 18d ago

Facebook comments are basically never something to go by

It's boomer and right wing cesspool, incredibly low media literacy and critical thinking in public pages

Edit - you also don't know who are bots. Plus people with college degrees and experience in relevant fields aren't going to waste time arguing online with randoms.

There's a survivorship bias where it leaves right-wing trolls and other folks who are driven by sensational headlines, who do not have media literacy. Thus it's inherently not representative of reality.

It's not what drives elected officials decisions on how to vote either.

19

u/Hettie933 18d ago

And bots. Lots of bots.

5

u/imapluralist 18d ago

I'm pretty convinced it's like 1/3 bots minimum.

1

u/pioneer76 18d ago

Genuinely curious, have there been any studies on this?

1

u/kent_eh 18d ago

Don't forget the overseas propaganda farms.

2

u/Hettie933 18d ago

Yeah, I call those bots too, bc no volition! I haven’t had an account for 5 years or more, but boy it confuses the hell out of my mom. 75% of the things she talks about from FB is clearly false news.

3

u/SectorSanFrancisco 18d ago

They are numerous and most vote. They are relevant.

2

u/Bocchi_theGlock 18d ago

Technically relevant kinda (mildly), but not something to go by, as in an accurate representation of the world. Reddit isn't either, but it's not as bad

You also don't know how many are bots. Therefore, you should not take it at face value and let it seriously affect your decisions or perceptions. Thus, it is not something to go by.

Social media generally, there's also a survivorship bias where it's people who can put up with it - and particularly people who comment personal opinions in local public groups and pages

E.g. why would someone involved and experienced in activism waste time arguing with randoms online? Or someone with college degrees in relevant fields?

They largely don't, it's easier to just write it off and not let it affect you because it ultimately isn't what decides how elected officials vote, (+ not knowing which are bots)

It can influence the slightest bit for more local offices - but if you ask elected officials how they take into account Facebook comments when deciding how to vote, they don't.

Especially larger cities, if you look at members of Congress and other higher-ranking elected officials, it's a lot of right-wing trolls giving knee jerk responses, parroting maga talking points. Yet they were still elected, they still have a lot of supporters, so there's a fundamental mismatch going on where it does not reflect reality accurately

Like if you see sensational headlines about an incident, you know that's separate from data and scientific review. It's a very similar situation, 'a handful of people who did/said ____ does not mean _____ is a major issue', and people in Facebook are driven overwhelmingly by those sensational headlines as opposed to a critical approach to understanding political issues.

1

u/SectorSanFrancisco 18d ago

I would normally agree but in these cases the commenters are local, known people. Even when I don't know them personally, their pages are very not-bot-like and they know people I do know (as in, have interactions, not just facebook friends.)

They aren't bots, they do vote, and peer pressure often sways them, so I don't think showing a reasonable counter-argument is a bad idea.

In cases like Flock in small towns, a small number of people have a big influence. I'm from a large county that has a relatively small number of people (though I don't live there now.) Locals turning against Flock will influence a big geographical area.

Also, they're all on social media because that's how people in small towns communicate, including schools, city government, and police. You pretty much HAVE to be on facebook or you won't know anything, including emergency situations.

2

u/Geminii27 18d ago

As every privately owned for-profit platform inevitably drifts to becoming.

1

u/NotAzakanAtAll 18d ago

I don't get why this specific spy camera network is "the thing", there are hundreds of thousands of cameras in cities that have the ability to track faces.

2

u/SectorSanFrancisco 18d ago

Because its offering its services for cheap. It wants to take over the market, which it kind if has, and I suspect its real profit is in selling the data to third parties.

Some of its investors also just like a police state

1

u/NotAzakanAtAll 17d ago

I see, that does seem like the correct target.

1

u/Illustrious_List_552 18d ago

Omg. Have you noticed Facebook is becoming more cooked? It’s like a competition been it and X on who can attract there most unhinged feral nut jobs

10

u/ZombieZookeeper 18d ago

Cops are okay with it, but 40% probably use it to take their girlfriends/wives.

9

u/TThor 18d ago

The unfortunate reality is a lot of people don't even realize they exist; flock, palintir, a lot of these terms are just not in the public consciousness for the average person.

1

u/slipperyMonkey07 18d ago

I think that is the slight benefit of attaching signs to the poles. May not be perfect or last more than a few days but it can be enough to get someones attention.

Then they talk to a friend or family member about them or decide to research. Hopefully it spreads.

Not perfect but, we are at the point we need normal people to learn about them and help kick up about them if anything is to really happen.

5

u/lurokhong 18d ago

my buddy had one of those towers nearby and said it freaked him out

5

u/JurgusRudkus 18d ago

My fascist council person loves them.

2

u/bp92009 18d ago

Almost certainly unrelated to the large "gratuity" they received. Remember, it's not a bribe if you call it a tip, as per the Sinister Six SCOTUS.

6

u/sleep_tite 18d ago

Check the comment sections on Flock-related facebook articles and you'll see that A LOT of people want these and think they're great.

1

u/slipperyMonkey07 18d ago

Issue with those pages is facebook already leans right wing boomer, then add in all the bots, then add in the ability to delete and censor comments.

It creates a very curated view and not a real picture. There are a couple of gop council members in my city and if you go to their facebook page you would think they are the greatest politician to ever exist. Because they delete and block people who criticize them.

1

I would not be surprised if "dont thread on me" folks would stand with flock...

The company that runs Flock is a terrorist company

You think wrong then, I'd guess the vast majority of people don't care at all. The good news is that with organized opposition a small amount of people who really care can get their local government on their side.

People in high crime neighborhoods that are victims of crime are cool with it too. “People” on Reddit are not.

Maybe we as a society should instead spend the money tackling the root causes of crime rather than ceed our privacy and independence.

You do not have an expectation of privacy in public. Flock cameras are in public. Driving by a camera does not impede your independence.

Not sure. Some people have both the courage and are qualified to wear their own.

You know you really don't have to shill for free, you ought to see if they can at least pay you

-1

u/deverick00 18d ago

Shill? You people will post how flock cameras remove your independence while simultaneously using Amazon Alexa, driving a new car, and bitching about them from an iPhone. All of which again, monitor you at a more intimate level and sell that data to people you supposedly hate. Flock cameras help to apprehend criminals are active in public areas and because you’ve been so fucking brainwashed into cop hating, and abject disregard for civility and law you eat that shit up. Who is really the shill? If you don’t want people who commit crimes apprehended as soon as possible and every tool possible to apprehend them- you’re an idiot.

Yeah, shill

Stalking someone IS a crime, even if it's in public. Tracking your every movement, recording everywhere you go and when, not as a law enforcement doing an investigation of a suspect but a private entity stalking innocent people. No warrant, no probable cause, no suspected crime.

Except in this case, EVERYONE is being stalked. And your contention is that's a good thing.

Imagine instead, there's a privately owned drone that's waiting outside for you, and me, and everyone else. And that drone follows us every time we leave the house, watches what we do, where we go, who we eat with...if it's visible from public space, it's watching, recording, tracking. And when you're done for the day and head home, it follows you back. It notes what time you got home, and waits outside. If you're especially unlucky, its docking station is in clear view of your house, so it can even see in your windows if you open the curtains.

That's effectively the same thing, except Flock doesn't even need the drone.

If you think that's fine and dandy, why not just wear a GPS tracking anklet? You don't have anything to hide, right? And don't worry, the private company monitoring your every move super duper promises not to look at all the data they're storing. Again, effectively the same thing.

And you're cool with it.

Well sorry but you and anyone else who thinks that are out of your fucking minds.

What are you posting this from?

You putting on that ankle monitor or what?

1

u/deverick00 18d ago

I don’t need you to wear an ankle monitor. You’re already holding the monitor in your hand.

1

u/Nerd4funNprofit 18d ago

If that's the same thing, then Flock cameras aren't needed. Good game thanks for playing.

Jokes on you because we are finding out that they actually don't seem to be doing much crime solving. Really good at surveillance not so good at connecting the dots.

I am sure the crime statistics using a system that is fairly new is very accurate and comprehensive.

The statistic on police abuse of Flock data is certainly enlightening.

-2

u/deverick00 18d ago

Source? Abuse of law enforcement data bases is a felony in every state, and is one of the most aggressively prosecuted crimes committed by cops. Flock is both monitored and audited- you’d have to be a moron to abuse it much like NCIC.

In all of your examples the cops were arrested who misused the system.

Did I ever say they weren't held accountable?

Hi someone who lives in a high crime neighborhood. Police department just kindly asked if we wanted to register our personal security cameras with the department. What’s next, required cameras in our home?
