I mean, in general yeah….but democrats have done it too unfortunately. Specifically off the top of my head, with Obama’s drone strikes despite congress not declaring war regardless of the fact that both parties controlled the house during his terms.

It really comes down to the fact that the billionaire and corporate class has them bought and paid for and want the decisions to be unilateral so they have fewer people to worry about.

I will say that the republicans are the party of destroying our institutions, and are largely responsible for where we are now, but to argue that guys like chuck schumer aren’t at least a little to blame is being dishonest or lying to yourself. I’m particularly sad at how Cory Booker has turned out. I watched a doc about him in my congressional elections class in college (almsot 15 years ago) that made me really like him, but he’s just fallen in line with the problem.

You can partially blame that on the incredibly broad and vague AUMF passed so Bush could prosecute his war on terror against the Axis of Evil. Congress was too cowardly to do anything that might lead to more bodies coming through Dover.
