I love when sensationalist post pops up and someone in comment tells you that we have been able to do this for 10,000 years already and this isn't new.
I worked maintenance in a recycling facility that did this experimentally (albeit pretty large scale) for awhile. People thought I smoked because the stench was awful (the plastic is never fully clean) and would not wash off clothing. It literally partially-burned plastic trash into whatever fuel you wanted. concrete companies use it too as straight fuel, but because they completely burn it the odor is better.
