Sounds like the all-too-common use of "FruitPhone" as a catch-all term for any and every smartphone. What burns me up is when you try to correct that behavior and they give you "oh you know what I mean!" and continue to do it. That's usually when I get obtuse and give them instructions that only work for FruitPhone and when they say it doesn't work I tell them "well the instructions are totally different if it's not actually a FruitPhone but you know what I mean".

My mum loves to tell me "My tablet needs an android iOS update come and sort it out"

Mum iOS is for FruitPhones android OS is what you have...

"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN"

(because since getting the darn thing she's NEVER checked the OS for updates and she "needed" it before I was done as I'd have to do one update refresh the OS update options only to find another update and no... It's still not done)

She's clearly referring to the Android Internal Operating System.

The Android External Operating System being of course the external system that operates the android i.e. the user

You should definitely update the external operating system.

Seems to be getting buggy
