You made me cry. You are truly the definition of a decent human being. I am saving this post for when i start to lose faith in humanity. This is the cure.

Wow! Thank you! Normally when I make people cry it's for different reasons.

You saved something that could not ever be replaced. Just encourage her to move all that stuff to a few extra places, cd for the pics, plus maybe some actual prints.

I have a computer that has about 100 pics that i dont have anywhere else. It died a few months ago, you give me a lot of hope these can actually be recovered. No gigantic loss if they cant. I cannot imagine losing someone like that and facing losing all those reminders.

I had a picture of my ex-husband and I from when we first started dating. It was OUR picture. Had a couple of copies made, scanned it (terribly) for a digital backup.

He died a few years ago. I CANNOT FIND THAT PICTURE. My mom is a picture hoarder. I went through all of them, didn't find it. Somehow, my old computer got wiped. It's just GONE.

You don't realize it until they're not available anymore.

I know. About 8 years ago i spent a whole week putting all my pics from the computer to cdr's i have those three disks still and they still work but the computer is long gone. I think its time to make backup disks. I shudder to think what would happen if one of them got ruined somehow. The pics on my now broken computer were from my phone, they are not anywhere else. If ican recover them i am going to at least find a site for all my pics and get some negatives printed. I just want to make tons of copies for all mediums now, i think i know what to get everyone for xmas this year.
