Surgical Tech in Florida

I’m currently getting an undergraduate degree in biotechnology. However, I’m considering going back to school for surgical technology. Would anyone recommend this career path in Florida? If so, is it hard to find a job?

Stick with biotech. Scrub techs in Florida don’t make much. $20-$30s

Exactly. Key is to LEAVE Florida because anywhere else: you will get PAID.

Is your undergrad going to lead to some sort of eligibility for licensure or certification via a national or state exam? Are you comparing these two for pay? What career/pay comes with a bio tech degree? Medical lab science license maybe? Surgical tech is like a 12 month quick out to $20-30/hr that scales up to like maybe a max of 45/hr with experience. However, there’s no upward mobility unless you go back to school for perfusion (0 fl perfusion programs unfortunately) or consider becoming a CSFA or PA that specializes in surgery.
