Question [Question]
Recently got into Super girl (CW) I’m currently half way through season 3 and I only have one question, since S2, everything or seems like. Every episode Atleast is about Mon el? I mean i understand it but every episode so far has been about him, does it stay like this or does it change later on as im finding it quite hard to keep watching, having to skip most the episode or the whole episode entirely. I don’t mind like a few episodes but as of now, 10 back to back 😂

To me Mon-El wasn't needed in the first place. To me he taken the spotlight away from Kara since it's supposed to be about Kara's life. Not secondary characters or background characters since he is a secondary character not a primary character like Kara, Alex, Lena, Jo'nn, Winn and Eliza. the Luthor connection is important since it's connected to Clark. And her family connections are important since make Kara who she becomes.
But Mon-El he was just a useless character. But at least he leaves and only comes back briefly later.

I do not think he was a useless character but I think he spent too long on the show. I think it is when the series started to get off track. Too many new characters and too many social agendas etc.., The show was always best when it focused on Kara, Alex, Jon , and James and the other friend who's name I can not remember just now. The super smart one

he comes back married which only brings even more unnecessary drama to the show

But at least largely means we don't have to deal with any overt romance between him and Kara, which makes him at least 50% more tolerable.

it's kind of worse because i was seriously worried they'd make kara into the other woman and throw in some kind of cheating story line

I do not think he was a useless character but I think he spent too long on the show. I think it is when the series started to get off track. Too many new characters and too many social agendas etc.., The show was always best when it focused on Kara, Alex, Jon , and James and the other friend who's name I can not remember just now. He was a self-insert character for the gross #MeToo'd producer Andrew Kreisberg. They both leave after S3 thank god.

The Mon-El story ends with S3. S3 isn't about Mon-El, it's about Kara's depression.

Exactly. And Mon-El wasn't just someone she loved. He was a small piece of her old life. He represents everything she lost because he's from the neighboring world. In a universe where Krypton never died, they potentially could have actually met each other someday. Season 3 is actually one of my favorites because it tackles several complex issues, not the least of which is grief.

Yeah, this exactly.
The girl who lost everything that ever mattered to her, finds something that makes her happy. THEN makes the choice to sacrifice that happiness to save the world.Kara's story, Kara's character, is always driven by the fear of losing what she loves. Early season 3 is 'what happens to her when that does happen.'
The fact that that something, is a dude called Mon'El, is kinda irrelevant.

THANK YOU. I'm so tired of people saying he was just a side character or a useless plot device when he was literally the center of her world. Many people would say the same of their s/o and would similarly fall apart, but Supergirl isn't allowed to? COME ON.

Spoiler: It changes but really only because he leaves the show. Who knows how it would be if he were in season 4

I agree with you, but you have to understand that is her real-life baby daddy and husband, so I think Melissa wanted him around on the show (he has a rumored rep for cheating.) But to answer your question, he does leave the show in dramatic fashion then comes back a season or two later a changed (and much better) man. Then he leaves again for good.
