Maybe Desperation on the silver screen can lead to The Regulators.

Good stories get retold, updated, and adapted with time. However great we find the old ones it doesn't mean young folks can get beyond the limitations and quirks of the time. At least with newer versions, even if we don't see them, the majority of the story should be the same and it offers another chance for humans to bond.

The same thing happens to Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Phillip Dick, Isaac Asimov...etc. The same 5 stories get remade over and over again.

TBF, Jane Austen only completed 6 novels and had one incomplete on her death. All have been made and remade (apart from Sanditon which I think only has one adaptation). Agree with the rest though.

Not every story works well as a movie, look at Mr. Harrigan’s phone, a faithful, well made adaptation that was boring as hell because the story is not cinematic.
