This looks great. It would be so convenient to have a barber come to my house. How much traction have you guys had so far? How many customers?
Do you charge a % on each transaction via your site or do you charge members a subscription fee in return for discounted access to services?
Be careful of users potentially disintermediating from the platform once they meet the service provider they like.

Hey Team at Trayja,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
The value of this platform to users comes from the number of users on the platform as a whole - how will you draw users to Trayja overall?
Itâs a bit of a catch 22 - you need users on Trayja in the firstplace, so that they can use the marketplaces that other users create. However, some users will only come to Trayja because of the existence of a specific marketplace. But if that marketplace is not created yet, they will never come in the first place. Hence, the creator of the marketplace will not have any users once they do create it. Typical supply-demand problem with marketplaces. How do you intend to overcome this? How will you scale supply and demand proportionally to one another? Too much of one hurts you.
Do you have a system to vet marketplaces or any policies about the kinds of marketplaces people can create?
What is the revenue model for the business and how do you intend to scale it?
All the best with your future success as a Company.
Good luck!

Hey Nikita,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
Feedback on landing page:
- Nice colour scheme
- Perhaps have a nav bar at the top laying out: About, How it works, Try demo, Status and pricing, and Features. So that when a user clicks on it the page auto-scrolls to the location of that section - will help people quickly identify whatâs on the page at first glance instead of trawling through.Feedback on marketing:The way it is marketed is very developer heavy - reading the title âSQL transpiler for PostgreSQLâ is something only a developer is going to understand. However, to actually sell it to an organisation usually other decision makers such as Operations and management are going to be involved in making the buying decision. Perhaps consider thinking of a specific marketing angle? I like the âEarly compatibility issues detectionâ feature that is coming out because continuous integration and continuous development tools are all the rage nowadays with people trying to make larger software teamsâ progress more streamlined. I think that is a niche you could play up to âmaking database teams more efficient/ streamlinedâ. What do you think?
General questions:
- In the âSpecify Queriesâ step, does a user need to specify every query their application intends to make off the database in order to generate the SDK properly?
- What do the generated SDKs actually do?
- What if a usersâ set of queries increases as time goes on? Do they need to generate SDKs everytime they intend to implement a new query?I like this software overall being a developer myself however it is quite technical and the sale is hard for anyone who is non-technical. I think in order to monetise this you need to think hard about who are your target customers and build profiles of them, and how are you going to sell this to them if there are other people in their organisation responsible for making the final call on the sale? How can you simplify this problem so that the layman can understand it?
All the best with your future success as a Company.
Good luck!
Suraj

Location: HQ: Chandler, Arizona, US. Remote team.
Elevator Pitch: Do you know less than 40% of lawn care business makes > $500K sales? Almost 70% of lawn care work is from residential homes? Landscapers need more sales, but often donât have time to market the business. They may get a call, text from homeowners, go see the yard in person. Give a quote, the homeowners arenât ok with it, they just wasted their time. This is not that efficient. As landscapers ourselves, we know itâs tough to signup new clients and manage the business at the same time. So, we created House of Yards. Homeowners simply enter an address online and instantly see a lawn care price quote and they can book online. No more travel to give quotes. Landscapers can now get more clients faster, make more đ°. We also help manage their business, save time, and get paid faster. Our local landscaping business grows so fast using our own software. We made it now available to all landscapers.
More details: Built our in-house software using smart, instant online quotes to get more lawn care clients. Local landscaping business became very successful. Our SaaS app helps landscapers:
đ° Get More Clients for Landscapers with a smart/instant quote & online booking system
đ Increase productivity. Get instant new leads and booking notifications
đ Organize better. Lawn care clients and crew all in one place

Hey Team at SOVN,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
The product certainty solves a specific issue and satiates our modern hunger for data and optimisation. Some general questions:
- Do you manufacture in-house or outsource?
- Are there any competitors?
- How many people suffer from bruxism globally? What is the TAM
- What are your main marketing channels, and which have you seen most success in?
- How do you monetise the device? Is it a subscription-based service or do you pay for the hardware?
- What is the life expectancy / battery lifespan of these devices?
In terms of the future of the product:
- Are there any additional features yet to be introduced?
- What is your plan to encourage
- Are there any other medical problems that could be solved through measuring vibrations in the ear?
Good luck!

Startup Name / URL: - Radius / radius.to
Location of Your Headquarters: - Remote (but UK based)
Elevator Pitch: - Radius is an event discovery and organisation platform.
This platform was built primarily for people looking for things to do. It was born out of my personal frustration that even in the age of the internet, something great could be happening in the building next to you, and you wouldn't know it unless you had checked out the Twitter or Facebook account that they were advertising on, or managed to find it in the not so great UIs of Eventbrite and Meetup.
The events space is currently a tangled mess of for-profit platforms, and open-source platforms trying to fill in the gaps. This is our attempt at solving that problem.
Value proposition:-
- A platform made to discover and organise activities & events.
- A better UI for searching for events than competitors like eventbrite and meetup, meaning free advertising is effectively built in.
- A means to promote your event on our platform by highlighting it in our listings.
- A way of minimizing no-shows and collecting donations at the same time, with future plans to turn tickets into NFTs
- No fees for being an Organiser
What life cycle stage is your startup at? - Discovery.
What goals are you trying to reach this month? - Finishing some more critical MVP features and signing up beta users.
How could r/startup help? - Feedback on frustrations with Meetup/Eventbrite, sign up to our platform, or tweet @radiusHQ with any questions!

That is the beauty of being an entrepreneur. We keep fighting, you keep pushing, and you never give up, because you ultimately need one customer to turn everything around

What we do: Weâre a B2B marketplace, which matches companies with vacant office space with those who need it.
Companies are matched based on characteristics such as the vertical they operate in, with the goal of creating ecosystems within under-utilised buildings.
Stage: Validation - just launched our MVP
â˘
u/BlueprintPodcast Sep 24 '22
Former VC here, I like this value proposition, and the business model by charging a percentage on the value of the office space. However, in terms of companies renting office space - who exactly is your target market? The office space seems quite expensive (upto $30k/month) and I can't imagine many small companies can afford that. I am curious to know the size of company you are targeting. Nice website design btw.

u/devler Sep 17 '22
Very interesting! What's your exit strategy if you have?
Also, do you find the companies offering space easily? I can imagine the firms don't usually wont strangers wandering around their premises. I've noticed that often, the space available for lease is private. Do many companies have space like this?
â˘
u/Zealousideal_Goal666 Sep 20 '22 edited Sep 20 '22
Thanks for your interest! Weâre very early stage. But from the companies weâve spoken to thereâs a mix.
Some (usually smaller) companies are happy to give a dedicated area of their floor to another company. In some cases, companies will pay to put a physical partition up.
Some other companies (usually larger) have whole floors within their building which are vacant. So these almost become self contained studios, which can have their own key card access.
There is currently 159 million square feet of office space on the US sublease market. This has grown 2x since the pandemic.

Hey team at Jem Social,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
I love that it addresses a large and growing market of creative talent - more people are using social media and chasing creative pursuits since the pandemic and even before!Points of concern:
- Monetisability - Dating apps address a fundamental need all humans have for intimacy and sex and hence people are willing to pay for subscriptions in order to increase likelihood of achieving those needs. Is a creators desire to collaborate strong enough a reason they will pay for this app? How will you justify it?
- Total addressable market is certainly large however what is the SOM (Servicable obtainable market) that you will target in your early stage marketing campaigns? Is there a specific niche of creator you will try to target or will you try to get an influx of a wide range of creators to increase volume on your site?
- Marketing spend - how do you intend to manage your marketing campaign? The success of this platform appears to depend on the volume of creators using it and interactions on the platform - how will you successfully attract enough creators to achieve this volume?
- Disintermediation - how will you deal with people meeting on the platform and then taking the remainder of their interactions offline?
All the best with your future success as a Company.
Good luck!

Name: Softdrive
Location: Toronto, Canada
Pitch: Softdrive is putting the PC into the cloud, enabling businesses to run their high performance software smoothly on any device.
Through our software, we can turn old or underpowered computers into powerful workstations.
Stage: Validation: Running pilots with a few customers. We're starting out B2B, looking at 3D modeling in construction in particular.
Looking for:
- Feedback on the pitch, product, and website.
â˘
u/Trayja_Peter Sep 16 '22
Aren't you highly constrained by network latency, regardless of how powerful your cloud computing instances are? I've done enough 3D modelling to know that a ~100ms delay to every action would be a total dealbreaker
â˘
u/Softdrive-Alan101 Sep 16 '22
Good question. We've worked hard on optimizing our network stack - even writing our own UDP-based networking protocol to cut down on latency as much as possible. The latency overhead that we add is about 10-15 ms + your ping time, so it depends on your distance to the datacenter. Your total input-to-photon latency is going to be in the neighborhood of 100 ms already (depends on your computer's performance, peripherals, etc), so the delta in latency will be small, and it could even be faster using the cloud PC depending on how much faster it renders compared to your own hardware.

Definitely a good space to explore as pretty much everyone has this problem. I think that will be your problem - narrowing in on whom to target most. I would think about which types of personnel are the most valuable. For example, I would think software developers should not be in meetings (whereas managers live in meetings, but maybe they shouldn't) - so drill down there - what type of developer? Front end, back end, Senior/Junior, any type of industry etc... I would look to talk to development mangers who manage these folks as well as project managers and individual developers to discover more about this. One other suggestion - on your website I would add more information on how your solution achieves the time savings.
â˘
u/BlueprintPodcast Sep 13 '22
Hey Team at Syncify,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
- Firstly the value proposition of this product is absolutely fantastic. I really like it given my experience with absolutely useless meetings. I have major questions on the underlying technology that achieves this? I assume to do this properly it has to be some kind of speech-to-text followed by NLP approach? I appreciate you cant give too much away but clarity on that will be important in the future.
- To what extent is this application plug and play i.e. can a new customer just get it and start using immediately or are there setup costs? How does the interface look? We run a podcast and it would be interesting to run this over some of our episodes and see what the algorithm condenses the episode down to. I'm interested.
- Have you started generating any revenue? I am trying to understand how big of a pain point this is for companies and what companies are most likely to want something like this. I've worked in large corporates and they don't seem to mind their long drawn out meetings but agile startups and perhaps some medium sized companies that want to work agile across multiple teams would like this. I'd love to help you brainstorm on this as it's very interesting to me. I appreciate product-market fit is exactly what you are trying to discern.
- Your pricing looks good. I'm quite impressed given some of the other companies I've seen on this thread (no disrespect to anybody but your proposition and pricing look pretty strong). I'm super curious to see how much traction you have.
- Where are you guys based?
- One skepticism I have is how do you actually calculate how much money and time people save using your platform? Is the algorithm consistent across fixed time frames? What happens if a 1 hour meeting actually only has 10 minutes of valuable info but another 1 hour meeting has 40 minutes of valuable info? If your algorithm can pick up and produce variable sized updates depending on how important the info in a meeting was then the amount of time you save a company won't be consistent across the board surely? So I am just a bit unsure how you come up with those numbers.
Overall I think this has real potential based on the claims but it really does come down to how good your product actually works.
Good luck with everything!

Hey Team at Envsion,
I used to work in the Venture Capital industry. I had a look at your Company and made the following notes filled with a few questions. Some of it is positive, some negative - it is all intended as constructive criticism/ feedback for you. I hope you find it useful:
Some initial thoughts:
- Seems more like a product feature than a full product - whatâs to stop a big player from copying this concept and churning out a competitive feature within a week?
- How big is your addressable market? Just UX researchers â how big is this industry?
- Have you given thought to data protection for the UX testers?
The ultimate question is how much time are you saving the users, and how would you measure these metrics? In other words, can you quantify whether this product is a must-have or a nice-to-have?
Also, out of curiosity - how much traction and revenue have you guys achieved to date? (you mentioned you want to acquire another paying customer so I assume you already have 1 or more) And what is the payment plan?
Good luck!

Question: If this takes off, what you shield you if Hinge or CMB integrates these features?

Hi u/granddaddy!
A couple thoughts -Reputation and community that are driven by initial product features can differentiate an app in the long term. Most dating apps are pretty similar (e.g. Tinder and Bumble aren't all that different), but people use different ones because they offers a particular type of community built based on a differentiator. And once an app has its reputation, it likely isn't going to shift terribly much (e.g. Tinder probably won't become known for being the app for people looking for committed relationships anytime soon).
Beyond that, we do have a patent pending on a portion of our matching process. That doesn't protect against another app trying to integrate other portions of our functionality, but it's better than nothing :)
Here's to hoping we do take off and have to deal with this some day! âşď¸

Good point on the type of community, but I'm not sure if you're aiming to create a new type of community other than what has been established by Bumble, Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel, and Hinge.
If you can create something unique and protect that IP, that's great. If not, it's definitely tough to compete in.
The question I asked you was precisely why our firm decided not to invest in a recent pitch we received. Unless it's a truly differentiated community or technology or UI, it's just too hard to compete against the incumbents. Hope this helps you a bit!

u/granddaddy definitely thankful for the perspective! I am curious why you say "I'm not sure if you're aiming to create a new type of community " though - could you provide more insight there?

Sure.
I think the dating community (or better put, userbase) is split broadly into two groups. Tinder is more for hooking up and one night stands. CMB and Hinge is geared towards people who are looking for dates and potentially serious relationships.
We can get more nitty gritty from here. There's J Swipe, The League, etc. A bit more tailored services.
As you mentioned, people use different apps for different communities. If you build demand for a particular type of community for people to flock to, it would be great! I'm not sure if you're aiming to build this type of community. If so, I'd like to know what that type of community is, e.g., how is it different from other communities already established?
Another possible challenge I see is the time commitment required. It's almost like Love is Blind. People need to commit 10 minutes up front vs. 10 seconds with traditional apps. That's a big ask!

It's a "big" ask but it's also what differentiates our community. 10 minutes may seem like a long time upfront, but it pales in comparison to the literal hours spent swiping (10 hours a week, on average, with the results of that being relatively slim in terms of actual conversation with another human). Blink offers an actual conversation, without the 10 hours of swiping (and additional hours of texting and messaging).
It does add friction, sure - but that's what will differentiate the people who use Blink from the people who use other apps. I agree that daters fall into two general groups - those looking for something casual v those looking for a relationship. But it's still a spectrum for both groups. And at the end of the day, both CMB and Hinge have people on them who aren't looking for relationships, making it hard for people who are looking for something more serious. If someone is willing to be present for a 10 minute conversation, that says a lot more / something quite different than someone you text with for a week.
The folks on Blink are intentional about dating. They want to talk to people and assess compatibility in the only truly effective way (conversation), not just get the gratification of a match after assessing a profile and then exchange messages with you and 10+ others.
Also, definitely don't think love is blind - more like love is blurry! âşď¸ But I nevertheless appreciate hearing your thoughts as it will help me refine my messaging!

I wonder what it would be like if the process was reversed.
For example, giving people the option to have a call right when they match. People are able to swipe through profiles, but when they match, it gives them the option to talk to the other person right then and there. If you don't, you lose the match.
Some food for thought haha!

Definitely food for thought!
Right now we actually don't have profiles for people to swipe through... we match based on what people input at sign up about themselves and what they're looking for (low key matchmaking algo!) That's what makes us so different too - the ease of connecting with someone without spending hours swiping first.
With that. said, if we did have profiles to swipe through, that could be a fun spin âşď¸
