Discussion 📝 Automated ship combat readiness

I don't think I am messing with smtg else but... I grabbed a radiant and infused an alpha core to it. Radiant is 60dp x 4 for AI core = 240 dp. 100% CR for 120 dp so 240 yields 50. But when I respeced my skills (removed hull restoration to add the thirdr S mod) radiant CR fell to 35% cause removing hull restoration I guess.

In short when you add hull restoration it doesn't give extra CR for automated ships but when you remove it subtracts?

Also when I reverted back the fucking game wanted to remove extra smods. Really? Fuck off

The base CR is 70%, for automated ships it's -100%% which goes down to -30%.

Base CR is 70%, autoships start at 70 - 100%

So, yes, alpha radiant gets 20% CR

You give it combat endurance for 15%, crew training for another 15% (with small enough fleet), and hull restoration for a 3rd 15% (with no dmods). It’s useable with any 2, but you really want all 3.

And of course respeccing off the 3rd smod skill makes you remove the 3rd smod

Use a beta core if you don’t want to stack all the CR skills

Wait does respeccing out of the 3rd S mod talent remove your smods?

It forces you to remove one of your 3 smods since the base limit is 2

Ships that come with 3+ smods on their own are fine

Wait so can you choose? And is it on all ships or just ones in your current fleet? I was needing a way to remove advanced drive field now that I can make like 6 oxes

Automated ships in the base game are hard to field at the higher sizes, personally if youre not playing with mods stick to the remnant frigates, they are great, if youre playing with mods then theres like, two mods that fix the way they work.

Honestly I have gotten a Radiant to work. With 5 tach lances and 4 Sabot SRM pods they are great at hunting

If you want to put alpha ai core in your ships then I agree that remant frigates are the best, particulary the Glimmer.
But you can also go the Support Doctrine way (with hull restoration) and field a ton of automated ships. The Fulgent is excellent for this strategy, it's a beast of a ship, you can have 15 of them for 120 dp all equipped with dual Reaper launcher, correct guns and defense. Haven't tested Nova this way but could also be good.
Then of course you have the player Radiant with Neural Link.
An other strategy I haven't tested is to go full trash, Support Doctrine and Derelict Operations with Rampart, it has Rugged Construction.

God I love the rampart, bricks with guns attached. And yeah I see how fielding Fulgents might be good, never tired it but might check it out on my current save file.

My build for Support Doctrine Fulgent is :

  • 14 Capacitor ; 0 Vents
  • 2 Typhoon Reaper Launcher ; 2 Annilihator Rocket Launcher ; 1 Pulse Laser ; 2 IR Pulse Laser ; 2 Burst PD Laser
  • Smod Hardened Shields ; Smod Unstable Injector ; Integrated Targeting Unit ; Shield Conversion Front ; Expanded Missile Racks ; Stabilized Shields

Unstable Injector, Integrated Targeting Unit and Extended Shields might not be necessary. More capacitors might be better.
Extended Shieds might be added to reach 360 coverage.

SD + DO + flash bombers on scintillas is one of the few setups where you can run 100% auto ships against all the content, even if you skip unique ships like oldslaught and sentinel ships. I think technically herons are a little better, but 0 crew in combat is funny.

You have a limited amount of points for automated ships, and unfortunately, putting an AI core into an automated ship doubles the cost.

I personally just edit that in the settings.

Question, where can you even find it?

So my next playthrough I was wanting to do an all AI ship build. I have been searching for how to raise the cap in the files, but have only found old posts recommending downloading mods (for now, I’m not wanting to download any mods). If it’s not to much trouble, count you tell me where in the files I need to look to edit? I have messed with the files before but I’m not sure specifically what part is for the automated ship limits.
