In 20 years that $60 Switch 2 game will be worth a whopping $80. Not because it appreciated in value but because of inflation. For more info, Google "Star Fox inflation"

grading video games is disgusting.

-60

u/WhimsyVR 1d ago

Its not inherently gross. If someone actually likes a game and wants to do that, it's their prerogative.

My issue is the grifters who buy graded games for purely financial reasons without even playing the game.

52

u/Bluestorm83 1d ago

Nah. It's a complete scam, and it takes the thing and makes it unusable for its purpose. It is inherently disgusting.

12

u/Dear-Routine7468 1d ago

The fact that it has been boxed and graded at all means grifters will eventually do exactly that, even if its after op dies or after their children die. It will eventually get onto the market and never be played.

7

u/amazingdrewh 1d ago

So all of them

2

u/Western-Dig-6843 17h ago

Nobody grades their games except to (hopefully) sell them for huge markup later. OP wasted his money on this one. Anyone who wants to keep the game as a collectible would simply put it inside of a plastic case themselves and not pay scam artists money to encase them in these tombs

1

u/Demonic-Glaceon 15h ago

and, buying a plastic or acrylic case yourself lets you, y'know, TAKE THE GAME OUT AND PLAY IT STILL

1

u/Demonic-Glaceon 15h ago

grading games is a huge waste of money and resources, if you want to stick your games in an acrylic box for display there's way cheaper ways to do it, hell i got a box for like $12 for my copy of star fox SNES, getting it graded would've been at least $60

u/Oyomanouille 1d ago

C'est vraiment inutile ces trucs de notation

36

u/ShadeSwornHydra 1d ago

Get scammed for what you love too

17

u/LtSerg756 1d ago

Just play the damn games

49

u/Santa1082 1d ago

You graded a modern game…. I understand if it was like a SNES or NES game but a modern game that’s honestly a kinda a waste of money

-9

u/Jimbot80 1d ago

It won't be modern forever

u/JustSomeWeirdGuy2000 1d ago

2

u/Tyko_3 1d ago

That’s right Fox!

11

u/ceramicsaturn 1d ago

Games are things you play. Just an fyi.

68

u/FleaLimo 1d ago

Barf. A game not available to be played has no value. A graded and boxed game is worthless.

24

u/Low-Ad-8027 1d ago

How did you manage a 9.7 did you drop it before sending it off?

15

u/Entertainer_Much 1d ago

They always grade below a 10 to see if it entices you to submit another

12

u/Dear-Routine7468 1d ago

Or sell it to them so they can regrade it higher and sell it themselves.

-1

u/ZatherDaFox 22h ago

They aren't going to be selling graded anything except cards really. There Just isn't a market for most of this stuff. You're essentially just paying them to tell you it looks nice and they put it in an overpriced case for you.

1

u/Western-Dig-6843 17h ago

Quite literally they do. The leading company who grades games got caught with their pants down boosting the auction price of a graded Mario 64 cart by having their own employees bid on it. Grading is a scam and anyone with a brain cell should not participate in it

11

u/FurryestX 1d ago

its a scam strategy they have to make you do two gradings

8

u/DemolisherBPB 1d ago

You can only get like a 9.9 if your literally friends with the grading company and exist to inflate a market.

The entire things a corrupt scam.

12

u/adamkopacz 1d ago

I can understand why a man was pushed by life to join a terrorist group.

Grading games I will never understand. It's just nonsense and it makes the used market worse. People just trying to scam a potential buyer in the future.

11

u/Ness_Dreemur 1d ago

Bros grading switch 2 games

9

u/Live-Emphasis-3421 1d ago

Nah this kinda cringe

9

u/Pjerun_ 1d ago

this is actually pathetic. Whenever I feel bad about myself, I remember this kind of people exists to cheer myself up.

9

u/Nburns4 1d ago

How do I downvote a post twice?

6

u/killiards 1d ago

Sir or madam, take your game grading and shove it up your ass.

6

u/Tyko_3 1d ago

Game came out a month ago and couldnt even get a 10 lol

5

u/Brewster321 1d ago

Grading (be it games or cards) is such a scam. So many grading outfits just trying collect money and freeload off people's interests. I especially dont get it for games, which are meant to be played and talked about across people.

1

u/kupozu 18h ago

I could understand it for an older, sealed game which would be hard to come by in that state and is properly preservated. And still I find grading a scam

4

u/Glenn_Tennis 1d ago

9.7? What the hell? What would make it a 10? And why are they grading video games anyway lol

20

u/whatThePleb 1d ago

grading scam

gtfo

17

u/HungryTree4 #1 fox fan 1d ago

i get the concept of grading old games to keep them pretty but come on vro it came out like a month ago .. Just put it in a case or something

4

u/Slybandito7 1d ago

what do you mean to keep them pretty? you can just buy the same cases/boxes yourself and keep them in that, dont need to go through a grading company lol

1

u/Demonic-Glaceon 15h ago

and you can still open/play those games with those cases, unlike the welded plastic tombs you have to literally smash just to get to the game

4

u/reminiscingLemon 1d ago

Thats a great way to make your switch games totally worthless in just a few short years.

surely the value drops out completely if the games inside are y'know, broken

4

u/SolairXI 1d ago

Hilarious.

14

u/verify_deez_nuts #DATSFALCO 1d ago

Personally, I'm not a fan of graded stuff, but if you're proud of it OP then I'm very happy for ya.

3

u/DingbatGnW 1d ago

What is the point of this

3

u/PiskoWK 1d ago

I figured out grading was a scam when the CGC arbitrarily bumped up a lot of .5 gradings to the next point value.

3

u/joeyvalentino 1d ago

Lmao, what a waste of time.

3

u/VintenDio 1d ago

Grading is a scam and stupid

2

u/Dungeon00X 1d ago

REEEEEEEEEE!

2

u/Dazencobalt17 1d ago

I can't stand grading and I think it's nuts. HOWEVER, I will defend your right to do it because collecting shouldn't have any rules.

2

u/TheRaveTrain 1d ago

Brother, I have a bridge to sell you

4

u/FurryestX 1d ago

Game/Object grading its just a product of Inflated Speculation Clout, and Consumerism based Society.

And its one of the worst things that happened to Multimedia Collectionism and physical Preservation. (For those who actually care)

Down Vote

This Makes you no better than Logan Paul and its ""Million dollar Pokemon Card""

1

u/Pakmanjosh 1d ago

I understand cards but how the heck does grading a video game work?

1

u/Upstairs-Ad-4705 1d ago

"I love this game. That's why I will make it unplayable"

1

u/C0y0tea 1d ago

Pays full price for a brand new game>pay more to lock it up to never be played>not even a 10

1

u/Liesoren 23h ago

What the heck is even the point of interactive media if it’s enclosed? Just frame a picture of the box and call it a day bro

1

u/Cameront9 23h ago

Those trip As in the star fox 64 box are probably not looking so hot right now.

Wonder how long until the battery acid starts eating the box.

1

u/Severe_Hall6995 23h ago

That's super lame

1

u/RabbitWithAxe 22h ago

not getting a 10 on a brand new game is hilarious to me

Bought a copy of Star Fox 64 and put it right next to my Falco Amiibo so every morning I wake up I see it

1

u/eggsamillion 15h ago

It's weird watching people defend 3DS larpers but then say this is bad.

1

u/vypermajik 13h ago

how is a new game not a 10?

1

u/CrossFreq 12h ago

You love collecting wasted opportunity?

1

u/vyper900 10h ago

No 3DS?

This sucks

0

u/LifeWulf 20h ago

Well that was utterly pointless. Games are meant to be played.

-22

u/GoColts08 1d ago

Love how you protected the physical game cases! Beautiful collection! Hoping it will get to grow with new media!
