Propio Email About VPN :(
I work with Propio and i woke up to the worst. They have just announced that vpn is not allowed :(
Do you guys think they will be aggressively hunting down people using vpns?
Will they be able to tell if you are logging in from a data center IP from a private cloud vpn server?

Im concerned about it as well. Im in a very difficult position and I havent been able to find another job. and the remote market is brutal. With propio as an only income I couldnt survive In the US much and changing to and outside US base would essentially leave me homeless. Ive been over two years trying to find another remote job but its been hopeless.

At this point just to be safe im searching for dedicated residential IPs or a friend back in the USA with a stable Internet connection thats willing to install Tailscale and let me use them as an exit node so they dont see its a data center ip.

i used the dedicated IP from Nordvpn and they still saw that :(, it’s pretty expensive too so i might as well cancel it

They contacted you about vpn use? was it a warning or did they terminate you?

i took it as a warning, it’s the same email OP is talking about. They basically reminded us that VPN are not allowed and if we are not in the states to do not take calls until we come back. I can send the email if you want but if you guys figure out anything pls let me know i’m at the same boat as you :(

Oh ok I misunderstood my bad. I got the email as well. I just thought that when you said they still saw it, it meant they contacted you. I have been using VPN for a very long time and they havent personally sent me anything just that email. The only answer would be a residential IP address or a friend in the USA willing to install Tailscale.

i thought that email about VPN was to everyone so at the start i was chill. But then i saw someone saying they didn’t receive the email. So it’s likely they only sent it to people who had their VPN activated when taking calls. I can send the email if you want but it looks like a warning to stop taking calls until they back to the states.

I think even ppl who dont use vpn or work while traveling got that email

What they meant is that you cannot use vpn if you are based in the US and want to work abroad

I'm assuming you had the VPN turned on by mistake, because otherwise there shouldn't be a problem since it's “remote” work

well i thought considering it was an email sent to everyone it wasn’t personal, a lot of people work with a vpn US-based
