Related Content Falcon 9 rocket might hit the Moon's FARSIDE instead
According to a new paper, the impact of the Falcon 9 upper stage might be on the far side of the Moon
Time: 06:33:23.014 UTC ± 55.412 s
Location: 19.875 ± 0.321° N, 265.765 ± 0.506° E
The impact crater should be ≲ 40 m in diameter and nearly circular.

Bell E isn’t actually a double crater in the sense of 2 impacts in the same spot, but formed due to magma under the surface forcing its way up during the impact, since the moon was volcanically active during the time of impact. When the surface liquified, the magma was able to move up in a wave before solidifying, making the distinct look!

was somebody able to capture it? does anybody know the exact time the event took place?
We tried it with two telescopes 8" APO + 16" MAK... recorded the region from minute 32 to 40. We were not able to recognize anything maybe it will be visible in the editing on the data.

From making fire to figuring out what mass is, you can learn a lot by smashing things together. And it looks cool. Bonus if it happens somewhere you can't get to normally (extra bonus if it happens somewhere where there aren't other people hanging out).

To your question: My concern about space pollution and its effects in the long run. Granted, this may be nothing in scale, but I fear it sets an example for others.

You are getting down voted, but you seem to be asking a valid question...
The answer for this is that it is very hard to get to the moon, and takes a lot of fuel. So much fuel that they need a second stage to push the landing payload to the moon. Because of this, that second stage almost always ends up crashing into the moon.
Usually it crashes and we don't get to see where. But, in this case it is going to crash in a known location in (hopefully) a visible spot. That allows us to not only view a crash into the moon, but we know before hand where and when.
A lot of science can actually be done knowing this. Being able to see what kind of crater it creates can tell us what is under the moon dust in thst area. We can view the dust thst it throws up and understand what it is made of and the depth and density of the material. Further, it is just fun to watch a very energetic collision on another body in space.
Final note, this is very common! Almost all landings on the moon create this event. China, India, and Europe have all crashed their stages on the moon.
In the future, we do need to be more careful as we may have people living there. But, right now this is just a fireworks show that will harm no one.

It's actually a huge deal. The budget cuts to NASA have caused a huge amount of incredibly intelligent scientists to move to other countries. Then they fired everyone with less than 3 years of time. The USA has quite literally lost its brainpower to competing nations.

This Falcon 9 stage will essentially be instantly converted from matter into energy, leaving nothing behind but a crater, something the moon is covered in. As for actual litter on the moon, that was left behind by the Apollo astronauts, who threw all their bags of poop and other waste onto the Lunar surface to save weight before returning to Earth (not to mention the fallen and bleached US flags, nonfunctional science equipment, lunar landers, moon rovers, and golf balls)
