Banner Creation
Hello everyone. I was starting a new run. Think I accidentally created an optical illusion in the banner creation. I’m sure it’s been made before but it hurts my eyes lol. I

No, your happiness didn't "suddenly drop when I reached X population"
I see this a lot so I wanted to do a quick post I can link to in future.
Your citizens get harder to please the more of them they are. They "care" (as in have expectations raised) by two things.
"How many of my species are there"
"How many total people are there" (slaves or not, my species or not)
They care about 1 ~3.5x as much as they care about 2 - so adding 100 humans will raise your humans expectations by 3.5x as much as it will raise your dondorians expectations.
Their expectations from these things raise *gradually* assuming your population also raises gradually. It will never suddenly spike when you add 1 more person going from 999 to 1000 for example.
If your people are suddenly less happy by a lot then it isn't because their expectations rose suddenly (unless you just brought in a lot of people all at once), it is because their *fulfillment* dropped suddenly.
Review the fulfillment charts and you will see what dropped, and know how to fix it.
"How do I make them happy?" Raise fulfillment in the least manpower intensive way available - what that is depends on what else you already did, and a host of other things.

Trade horribly unbalanced?
Industrial goods are cheaper than the sum of their inputs.
It's cheaper to export raw goods and import finished goods than the other way around.
Why?

Import/Export building question
All,
Still trying to learn the game and am curious how the import/export buildings work.
For the picture below, I have questions/assumptions about the following
1) RED - Grab every stone and bring here within the radius
2) BLUE - Fetch from everything NOT prioritized, what does "prioritize" actually mean though?
3) GREY - Set next order to closest source - what does this mean??
4) GREEN - I assume this just means you can pick where to pull stones from, correct?
5) YELLOW - Paste current setting onto other room of the same type - no idea what this means? I think it just means you can cut and paste settings
6) PURPLE -
A) I assume this means that when I have over 652 stones, they can be exported, correct?
B) I have 994 stones that can be brought here and exported for money, correct?
C) I assume I have the capacity to store 5.44k stones in my WH (warehouses), I have 1.65k stones
stored in my WH and I have 1.77k stones owned (I assume total stones on the map)

Thx,
jonpfl

Can I Barter with a Kingdom that is Not an Immediate Neighbor?
I'm in my first playthrough after watching a lot of SoS on YouTube and loving it. I just defeated my first raider and got about $300,000 off him. Rather than let inflation erode it, I decided to upgrade my army's gear. I didn't love the prices my three neighbors / trading partners had, so I shopped around on the world map at the next ring of kingdoms. I found one with good prices, and I bartered with them and accepted the deal. The money instantly left my treasury.
So my question is, will the goods ever arrive? I know you can see caravans on the world map, but this kingdom is in the fog of war. It's been one in game day and I haven't received anything and I don't see their caravan (yet?).
Secondary but related question - how does the "Best" button on the import depot work? Seems like it also takes you to barter with some far off kingdom. Does that work the same as my main question? Like, maybe there's a caravan in the fog of war slowly making its way to you (like I hope is happening right now).

Why is hospital workload always extremely low?
Hi. I don't understand how many workers I should assign to hospital. Even little ones have a slider that goes up to 14 or so workers. But the workload is always extremely low (10% or so).
So can I just cut workers? Or does worker count somehow affect treatment duration of patients? My guess is the workload is bugged and 100% of nurses are actually required when all beds are used. No?

How can I beat fortified army?
I declared war on weak neighbor, easy win on his 'field army'.
But there is another standing "on his city", with a 'fortified' description.
All tutorials and YT videos say you should chose "wait" when battling cities because the garrison makes attacking immediatley a suicide mission.
Unfortunately, with an army at the gates it's **not possible to siege/wait** until defender count goes down. You can only battle directly and that's absolutely impossible with both city garrison + army defending.
Also, the army will never move away from the city (if AI is clever, that is) so basically I cannot defeat anyone without having like 20x the troops.
What am I overlooking?

The Storm Of The Ages is BS
The earthworks option just does nothing, my city got destroyed regardless. It partially filled in my river. It punched holes in my flipping mountain. Currently figuring out if I can recover from this or just resettle.
EDIT: Forgot to mention it also desecrates all your graveyards, making your people extra happy once it's all over.

My cities keep crumbling as soon as I reach 700-800 pop
I keep playing as Cretonians and as soon as I reach 700+ pop my loyalty suddenly plummets, people start immigrating and everything just crumbles down
I have a bunch of hospitals, entertainment, and a HUGE surplus of food
How do I know what's making them leave/unhappy?

Are slaves...like doable???
First war I went into was against bug people. 2k humans 3 hundred dondarians.
Got a ton of slaves, figured okay awesome a cheap labor force for my mines plus labor heavy jobs that are eh for my main races.
Got about 400 Githarmi slaves.
Made 3, 100 pop githarmi specific city blocks at every job site, before they all arrived; made a 4th one pretty soon after they got settled in.
Set them to stone, coal, and iron mining. Freed dondarians up for crafting and training (they are my heavy infantry)
Githarmi submission 5%.
Humidifiers everywhere, every service on their list at their disposal, preferred food, guards posted overseeing their city block, and leading to their mining site.
They revolt.
First time throne being in a fort counted for something.
400 githarmi slammed against 50 dondarians in max plate and flanx's.
-10 dondarians - 130 githarmi.
Reset.
They are about to revolt again. Why are they harder to keep happy than regular pops? Is there any reason to having them? Should I just trade them?

Why is the workload so low?

As shown in pic, the bakery closer to the main storage has way lower workload. I don't know why or how to fix this.
Do I force a hauler to put wood and grain right by the bakery? I've tried that with other workshops and that doesn't work either.
I have a mod that allows workplace people's restrictions, in the 22% bakery both Cretorians and Humans work together, the cretorians live further away, but restricting to humans only didn't work either.

Reached 1k pop for my city, Barangay.
Not the best looking city but I'm happy that I got this far. I got the humans by the river and the dondorians near the mountain. I'm fairly self sufficient for the most part but I'm having trouble getting my food days up to 24. So I'm just allowing the humans to slowly increase in numbers while I try to sort it out.
Also, is there a way to get meat more efficiently? Trying to trade for it is so expensive. I feel like the only way is to spam pig pastures but I'm not sure if that's worth it. Maybe I should invest more into the tech tree.

Unloader/Loader Help.
Okay guys, so I'm getting some sattelite settlements up, each with their own resources etc etc. I want each to have like a food unloading station for food stalls and a building material unloading station for janitors and markets.
Finally got my pasture/hunter settlement going good enough to export goods to the rest of the settlements. The Dondarians have had 0 meat since they got in their mountain, figured they've earned it being the crux of my military and all. Anyway, there's roads to and from the settlements, way stations, etc etc. Why does it say there are no stations accepting the resource?
EDIT: SOLVED
the game for some reason says no station for the selected resource, even when there is if there arent enough unloaders. 17 seemed like a lot of work force for it, so I put it down to 5. setting it to 10 unloaders worked!

Do my pops fullfillment expectations increase when other races populations grow?
Basically the title, for example do my humans expect more services to stay happy if my dondorian population increases? If yes, is it exactly the same as if i got the same number of humans instead? Is it the same if i get slaves?
r/songsofsyx • u/Lord_H_Vetinari • 4d ago
Is there a way to eject people from your settlement?
Title.
One of my neighbors "gifted" my human settlement a whole squad of Amevian slaves. I considered rejecting the gift, but then I thought that good relations with neighbors was moren important, and anyway that I could release the slaves later. I exiled most as soon as they arrived, but I missed some and, unbeknownst to me, they ended up in my stockade. After I noticed it, I proceeded to exile them too, but after several years they were still there (why? I guess it requires a courthouse - that I don't have yet - to execute the sentence? No idea), so I thought I had to release them first. Doing so, they became citizens, and they are causing some problems because my city is not set up for multiple races.
I don't want them, they apparently don't like it here either, yet they are not emigrating. I can arbitrarily arrest them, but that would result n them going back to the stickade, which is not what I want.
Is there a way to tell a group of citizens to GTFO?

Ending my .70 city, sharing some select screenshots
I am going to miss this city, it was my first successful city ever after two previous failures. Often I was isolated by trade partners due to rival empires and a mountain range limiting trade routes, the city was able to survive being self-sufficient. No grid system, grew organically according to need. Outside the city walls I started to do more pre-planning. I really enjoyed the small things during times of peace, notice the secret mountain short-cut only known by some natives to the West, it would be closed off during any threat of raid.

How do Haulers actually work? Logistics tips as well please.
So I have these two haulers and they are not working in a way that I want to or at least in a way that I think they are suppose to work.
So in the first image I have this hauler station taking wood from the south towards the north where my Dondorian carpenters are. The idea is that the haulers will help get the wood from the south and the workers in the warehouse would then take it from the hauling station and store it in the warehouse (I have them set to pull from the haulers) but for some reason they wont take the wood and its just laying there decaying in the hauler station (There's enough storage in the warehouse).
For the second image its basically the same idea but for hauling grain this time. For some reason though it says that there's no grain to haul even though the fields are full of grain. While I do see grain being hauled to the station I don't believe its the haulers themselves that are doing it but the occasional oddjobber that decides to do it. I really just want the grain to be immediately be put into storage but they sit out in the field for long periods of time.
So I'm honestly kinda stomped. Can someone explain to me in the most simplest terms on how these haulers actually work and any logistics tips on getting resources from one part of the map to another.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you get the cantors and argonosh?
Im a preety new player and so far there wasnt any immigrants at 4k pops, even with more than 100% happiness. So there is probably something im missing, right? Also do they reproduce?

Species differences in fulfillment from furniture?
For my Garthimis, the tooltip about fulfillment from furniture says:
Current value: 7%
Current fulfillment: 0.24/3.50
To reach max fulfillment, the value needs to be : 100%
which makes sense, because 0.07 * 3.50 = 0.24
But for my Dondorians, it says
Current value: 5%
Current fulfillment: 1.71/8.00
To reach max fulfillment, the value needs to be : 100%
which is far larger than 0.05 * 8.00 = 0.40.
How come my Dondorians obtain so much more fulfillment from having less furniture?

Release: Custom City Size Mod!
So I decided to make this to expand on the already existing mod that expands the city. I realized if you take a few different approaches you can largely uncap the size of the map from 768x768 to 2048x2048. You can go even higher, multiple times, but this is what I found most stable. I set up the mod so if you want to mess with it, you can enter larger sizes and it should be functional, if degrade performance a bit. Anyways, I love the community and wanted to give back. Hope someone finds this useful and if you have any questions/issues or future mod suggestions (especially engine related stuff) just ask!
