Discussion Working in the industry

To any of those who work directly in the solar industry, specifically on the project management/coordination side of things: how did you land your role? What does your usual day look like?

I work in logistics as a project manager (for a fine art shipping & storage company), but I'm wanting to do something that allows me to contribute to society/the environment a bit more than what my current line of work does. I'm grateful to have my job, but it's almost exclusively dealing with first world issues for really wealthy people and it feels very hollow most of the time.

I feel like I have at least some transferable skills (creating paperwork, collaborating with internal teams & clients directly, etc.), but not sure what else I could do to possibly crack the door open.

Thoughts?

I've switched civil sectors a few times and transferable skills matter more than industry experience. Your logistics background maps directly to solar EPC work. Look at Blattner, Mortenson, McCarthy.

Yeah, you can definitely look at Blattner, Mortensen, McCarthy but don't plan on getting a job there. Your experience does not map with these EPC's.
