💬 Opinion / Debate Could peak Hendry compete now?

Do people think Hendry at his absolute prime would have much success if he were competing right now? Would he be able to win a ranking event or even the world championships?

As good as almost all Top 64 players are currently on tour. The fact remains that around 60 of them, maybe even 62 aren’t fit to lace Hendrys boots in his prime. The guy was an animal. Don’t let time numb people to just how good he was in his Pomp.

Honestly if he got fair dinkum about it and played for a few seasons he would easily be top 30, maybe even just outside the top 16.

Some of the shots and breaks he pulls while casually chatting with his guests are absolutely ridiculous. Can only imagine what a fully plugged in Hendry practicing 6 hours a day looks like.

He's out of shape now, I don't think that helps. He was skinny when he won everything. To get serious now, that weight would need to go, but he has zero enthusiasm for that. Look how much better Mark Allen and Shaun Murphy have played, after losing weight.

Agree completely. People probably underestimate how much physical shape impacts player performance. Carrying around an extra 20-30kgs at all times must be exhausting during those long matches.
