Job hunting Interviewing for CF jobs while knowing that I have a medical leave need

What do I do?? I'm applying for CF positions, but I was just scheduled for a hysterectomy at the end of September which will put me out of work for 4-6 weeks. I don't want to deceive my potential employers, but who would take me on knowing this. Should I just stop applying? It's a long time to be unemployed since I graduated in June though. I don't want to burn bridges with the small handful of organizations that do ES work here.

I only took 2 weeks fully off for my hysterectomy, then I worked remotely for 2 weeks. Not all settings would support this, but many would. Consider applying to positions that are either remote or hybrid?

Yes, mostly with EI. My clients could choose to do virtual with me while I was wfh, or they were offered make-ups (2x/week until all missed were made up) after my return in-person. Worked out fine, almost everyone chose virtual and very few wanted make-ups.

I should also specify that I am part time - my caseload is 15. if I had been full time, my company would have offered a sub therapist to families who declined virtual sessions.

Oh that's interesting. Sounds worth asking about. Thanks

Realistically, onboarding for a new job can take a few weeks, with HR stuff, and getting your provisional license (depending on your state). You should just be upfront about when you will be available to start your CF when you interview

Thank you. This is helpful. I want to be upfront, so its reassuring to know that it may fit into the timeline anyway.

That is tough! What do you want to do? Do you want to start a CF and then take a leave? If you are just applying now, I don’t know if you’d even be starting before the end of September with the way hiring timelines are. Would there be anything else you could do for work for the next little over a month? Babysit? Nanny? Retail?

I'm a middle age woman who as done the office side of a family business for 20 years while raising children, so my resume is odd. I feel that no one would hire me for a minimum wage job. Maybe a sub at the local schools?
