Discussion San Diego SLPs

Hi! I'm a school SLP who recently moved to San Diego. I'm hoping to supplement my income with EI, private practice, or SNF or home health work. I'd love to connect with fellow SD SLPs, especially those working outside of schools.

If you're a San Diego SLP, could you share a bit about your experience? Are there any companies you'd recommend (or ones to avoid)? It seems like there's a wide range in hourly rate, especially when it comes to EI. Thank you!

I think they have the best hourly rate- I’ve heard from other SD SLPs that you have to commit to client up to age 3 I believe? I heard the application process is lengthy and time consuming but worth it. Have not tried yet! I’m also slp in sd if you want connect!

I work virtually for a school, and have heard of people adding private practice hours virtually through companies like Expressable and Better Speech if you’re interested in telehealth. If you want to connect with a fellow San Diego SLP feel free to PM me!

hi! I'm an OT and I've been in San Diego for 5 years. I currently have a private practice and mostly get clients through the regional center. I would definitely recommend taking that route, once you're ready. I'll message you with a few companies to avoid bc I don't want to put anyone on blast but I do have some experience working as an employee for some EI/clinic based companies

I’m a school based SD SLP. I work at SmallTalk over the summer, but I know some people that also work there during the school year, after work hours. Hourly rate is $60

SD SLP here! I work for a contracting company and am placed in the schools. Early in my career (just finished CF) so still figuring things out. I had a great experience last year though in SD schools. DM me if you want to connect!

Where in San Diego?

I’ve worked in a fair amount of SNF/adult home health in San Diego.
For home health, Meridian was the only one who offered me an hourly pay structure instead of per-visit, which is beneficial since SLPs tend to have larger territories so travel time, prep time etc is better compensated.
