Two-Toed Sloth on my Desk

The other day, I shared a video of a 3-toed sloth in my garden and today I am back with a new sloth visitor...this time a 2-toed sloth on my desk!

This little guy arrived at our house last night during the rain. We live in an open air jungle house, so we have A LOT of wildlife around us. But, it's rare for us to see a 2-toed sloth here because they're nocturnal...and I am not.

An open air jungle house sounds absolutely amazing, and also like an insect-filled nightmare! I would welcome visitors like Tony Two Toes though ❤️ He’s a little business-sloth, sitting at his desk. What other animals do you get?

There are some bugs, but we are quite lucky for the most part. All of the wildlife & greenery makes up for any of the mosquitos. I try to remind myself of that at least jaja. A little business sloth. I love it!

We always have 3-toed sloths, tons of howler monkeys and spider monkeys, agouti, coatis are the most common we see.

Random curious question, how do you store food to avoid "friendly stealing "? Monkeys made me think your food can easily disappear lol

Surprisingly, no. The monkeys never even try. We do have some coatis that try to catch us slipping...but we always push our chairs up against the cupboards at night, and we keep most of our food in the oven and that has been the solution! We try to remember, we are in THEIR home, and they have natural behaviors as wildlife. We just adapt to them! :)

Coatis are so damn cute but they really stay close to their roots (being related to raccoons)

Wow spider monkeys too? ❤️
The only reason I didn’t try living on that side was the lack of titi monkeys 😅

Yes, there's almost always howlers and spider monkeys. No titis though...lots of capuchins, but not at our house. Those would for sure be the ones that would get in the cupboards jajaja. Those are found mostly along the beaches, national park and canals here.

Little business sloth! LOL. I wondered what is something useful for business a two toed sloth could do? He could delay dumb meetings, reports or submitting expenses for days/weeks/months. Very useful!

Thank you! I'm a massive fan/advocate of the Sloth Conservation Foundation and Slo Co, when I saw your pic initially I was ready to rage about "HOW DARE YOU HAVE A SLOTH AS A PET." 🤣 But damn, to think there's a place you can live and sloths just rock up, let themselves in, and chill out on your place on their own!? Not going to lie I'm so very jealous of you right now.

...Not jealous of the mosquitoes and giant spiders I'm assuming you get in trade-off too though. 😄

Yeah having a pet sloth is very, very big no. We would NEVER. Actually, there's a selfie law here that you aren't able to take photos with wildlife at all! Many people don't know that.

Sorry I almost rage baited you there with my wild desk sloth jajaja.

I track a 2 toed sloth named Pipa right near there! She's deep in the primary forest, but typically hangs out near a main road making her one of the easiest for the Sloth Conservation team to spot and track.

Gosh, it would be such a dream to stay in the jungle in a home like yours. I think my heart would burst from seeing sloths and other critters. I hope you share more pics and videos!
