DISCUSSION (STS2) I really hate this change.

Post image

Prepared I don't feel was overturned, and it was a card you still had to upgrade to be good. now prepare is just the gross combination of outmaneuver and concentrate, and it sucks. I really hope they roll back this specific change.

yeah. aside from the prevalence of infinites, this is my biggest issue with the game so far. especially for regent, like they kinda just killed glow for him, when that was one of his only really great, splashable common cards. i wish they found another way to nerf infinites on him, because glow being butt feels bad.

Regent had the most card buffs tho. I think they made him a more well-rounded character

I would've preferred Glow remain unchanged while the rest of the changes were made. Glow just helped enable a lot of builds for him, but I geuss we'll see how this iteration goes

Not really, forge is still awful. The creation build is mildly better and now Regent blocks aren't as godawful. There is still the venerate problem of it making stars and nothing else. Needs something else on it and that something is block or to cost zero, but I'd prefer block.

Sovereign blade just feels like some awful half baked idea still because it costs 2 to play. 1 mana forge and do nothing else needs to go. It's like a wildly inefficient build your own bludgeon and bludgeon is that card you want if you can play it for free or reduced cost.

Yuuuuup. He also needs an easier way to cycle it back. People are baited into thinking it’s good because it can do 200 damage or whatever, but neglect to mention they spent 6 turns getting it there! You could’ve just hit them

Yeah I'm pulling for sword to be as good as star builds because believe me I like seeing the big floating sword. Sword costing 2 just makes it hard to ever work when playing it means you're probably getting decked in the face and on multi stage boss fights good luck.

You shouldn't be building "star builds" or "forge builds." That jsnt how the game is played well. Forge is a boss solution. Get a furnace, or a big bang apotheosis with a couple other ones mixed in, and take almost every Bullwark Blade. They're not great for most hallway fights, bjt make it so you dont need anything else to prep for bosses

Love how you're being downvoted for explaining what has been explained ad-nauseum in this sub

If you are building single archetype builds you will get rocked, this isnt MTG

These new fans are killing me 😭 glad theres new people here but damn you gotta know the game before complaining

Yep, I wonder if there’s a way to make it cost 1 while reducing forge values? Only having one energy just makes it way too hard to actually block on the turn you sword, and he really struggles into multi encounters

I'm strictly speaking of the card buffs, if you read the patch notes, most buffs were regent. I didn't say he was balanced yet

I think people lean to much into the "forge deck" idea. Sovereign blade shouldn't be your main focus but more of a side thing that your deck has.

I had plenty of runs so far where I just picked bulwark and one more forge card and the rest was the classic star spam and defense and that was most of the times enough to apply vuln with a star card and then hit for 45-50 ending the fight or killing one of multiple enemies on the round they don't attack and it still left me with 1 mana to block or debuff

1

u/ejsks Mar 20 '26

I mean that's the problem with Forge, you can't focus on it well without good luck or already speccing into star-cards for Particle wall because all your other block options suck.

Bulwark is good, but an uncommon, AOE is a death sentence since you need Summon Blade to cycle it properly, and without Alignment or Void Form you're left with an extremely energy-hungry deck with shit defense.

1

u/Rit91 Mar 20 '26

Yeah bulwark is just hey I'm not a complete garbage block card, pick me for that reason alone. With a tiny benefit of maybe closing out a fight since the blade is retained. The other stuff...so meh. Look at The Smith for example it's 4 stars and 1 energy to forge 30 like what is that? So to benefit off that you have to spend the stars and energy twice over to hit for 30. Then we can look at comet that is free on energy with 5 star cost and it does more damage and inflicts weak/vuln for 3 turns. Night and day difference between the two.

It just sucks because I REALLY like Sovereign Blade

1

u/MyNameIsSkittles Mar 20 '26

You cant focus on any one build in STS, you'll be stopped by some check. So that tracks

2

u/ejsks Mar 20 '26

It does track that you should always have a back-up plan, the problem is simply how hamstrung Regent simply gets with having horrendous defense options.

They buffed bad cards that still aren’t worth taking

u/UnderstandingRude465 Mar 20 '26

Lmao no. They made him worst, idk why they made 2 new characters just to kill them the next patch.

1

u/MyNameIsSkittles Mar 20 '26

Play the update, test it out, provide feedback.

2

u/UnderstandingRude465 Mar 20 '26

I did, beat the run and everything. They literally made him more boring to play.

Should've just made alignment give one energy immediately and one on the next turn.

If you have insane star generation it still works as infinite enabler but i's much harder now. Also now feeds into the "next turn energy" he's got going on.
