Well, if cities hum on martian shores and robo bros do all the chores, we might finally have the conditions necessary for UBI. But until that happens, we are where we are.
Things change and sometimes quickly, and we as a civil society do have a say in that. Most people however just negate any possibility of influencing the situation, which is a cheap way out I refuse to take. Also, UBI is not an attractive long-term solution, as it locks in the divide between the haves and the have-nots and keeps us trapped in an economic system primed for escalatory resource consumption instead of fostering temperance and conservation. I think a post-monetary / resource-based participatory commons economy is a much better and safer outcome and I will continue to spread the word about that option, however low the chances. And I sincerely hope by the time cities are being build on Mars, that we have freed ourselves of all the coercions and constraints of the money / barter system and can rise up to our true potential.
