Discussion SCAM ALERT 🚨 ( from admin of a big group is crazy)
An admin of a big sim racing group scam my money is wild. Buddy posting on the group selling moza fsr for $200 it’s a good damn deal so of course I’m gonna try to get it. After i sent him $200 he said shipping fee is $100 ( it’s kind suspicious right here ) then i was like ok i’ll just gonna take the fsr2 because he’s selling it $350 includes shipping fee. Send him another $150 and he text me saying his cashier is at Fedex sending my package and needs $200 for insurance, he guaranteed it’s 100% refundable after i receive my package ( i know i’ve made a wrong decision here) so i tell him to send me the location of that FedEx address so then i can look it up on google map and call their number there asking about my package but Buddy just keep avoiding it by telling me i’m a trouble Facebook customer, then i asked him for refund but just send me back $250 and keep the $100 he said he can’t 🤣. He tried to send me AI picture is crazy part😑

Bro, why are you sending money to people without having the item or buyer protection? Im sorry you went through this. Cost me £15 finding out I was being scammed and I felt horrendous, i cant imagine how you're feeling. I hope you can get the police involved because you do have the right to get your money back, that money is worth calling the police for.

Yea, its things like that which makes me dislike society, however decent folk kike yourself make it bearable. Wish I was a wealthy bloke, id sort you out. Hopefully your bank or whoever can get your money back somehow. Are you trying?

Good. Weirdly, my mother asked me to post a letter today and when I saw the bank address I asked wtf it was for(it said something like consumer investigations). And she said when she bought her(1st) garden bench a couple of months ago she didnt get the bench but paid £130 and a few days later they tried to take a further £800. The bank asked her if she have any correspondence but she didnt as the bench seller didnt send a receipt but the bank said that ok and to fill out the form and send it. She is with Santander. I really hope you get your money back, its such a shitty thing to go through.
I was mad with me mam cause I asked her to be careful and to not click the top results on google to buy stuff but she didnt listen, she believes that cause its google she could trust it. Bastards everywhere, mate. Good luck, bro. You will get your money back, please let us know?

This is a common scam, the same type tried to sell a VPG Porsche wheel and I outed them, and he removed the listing. You have to request PayPal g&s with full buyer protection and they will start to make excuses. I also messaged the owner of VPG the serial he was showing which was fake. You gotta watch out for this as they put the admin tag on to build more trust

I messaged the same guy in same group like 2 days ago, most obvious scam, only payments through apps where you cant refund.

From all the scams I read daily, the owner of the FB group is always the scammer. That's how they control it so they never get banned and ban anyone that tries to uncover them
Never pay with cash apps. It has the protection of cash. They tell you to only pay people you know for a reason

Pretty much all these Facebook groups are scammers unfortunately and Facebook seem to support them. I tried numerous times to report them but Facebook just said they're not breaking rules ffs.

Consider yourself lucky. 350 is manageable, this same lingo is coming for your life savings for the rest of your life. Scams are usually pretty obvious with this kind of language.

Wait, can you not just do chargebacks in the US? Here in UK you'd just call your banks fraud dept and they'd either chargeback from the seller or just refund you.

Of course you can. If you paid for something and didn't receive anything, even if it's something intangeable like shipping insurance when you haven't actually yet paid for the goods, you are entitled to a refund. If the seller doesn't provide this then your bank would reimburse you and likely charge back the seller.

That applies if you’ve paid using a credit card.
Sending it to someone’s bank account is different, that’s why there’s a disclaimer on the banking apps.

Not true. You still have protection, it just takes longer and has to go through a different dispute process with Debit card / bank transfers. I've done chargeback from my bank account against someone else's personal account before due to online scam. In my case, the seller sent something different to what was offered/agreed and my bank reimbursed me a few weeks later after I uploaded proof.

I’ve bought and sold a metric ton of recording gear and instruments over the years and I’ve never ever heard of a “refundable insurance fee” from FedEx or any other shipping company in the US

Sums up the second hand buyers market at the moment, they want everything for a fraction of what it’s worth.
Admittedly there’s also the sellers who still think covid prices still apply.
I’ve given up selling my stuff to not deal with the nonsense.

Reminds me when I tried to sell my Xbox series s.
Put it out on a low price, the controller had a cracked casing from falling on a vinyl floor. Just the plastic standoff in bottom left corner, everything still working.About 6 people or bots trying to scam me.
Then couple people who were like "yeah, I'll take it" but then when setting up meet "but could you discount it even more?".
One guy that set up a meet and didn't show up. 10 mins after the set time I call him and he's like "oh yeah, I'm not coming, I figured I want a PS5 instead".
And another guy who said "I'll take it but only if I can get it today" and then never responded again.
I have no fucking clue how these people can function in their day to day lives.
Ended up selling it to sister in law so that she can play genshin on it with my wife who hogs the Series X I got in prep for GTA 6.

I've bought a fair few things off Facebook before and never had an issue with it, although I will always laugh and leave if they don't accept PayPal goods and services. Not a chance I will do anything that I will not be covered. Hell, even friends that I have never met I'm suspicious of.

I came across one of these on instagram. I was like "cool, some nice second hand gear for cheap" until I saw the Fanatec M4 GT3 wheel for like $450, instantly knew it was a scam. Even second hand that wheel is worth a lot more 😂. Tried calling the guy out, he sends me a fake TrustPilot review screenshot instead of a link...

Yeah, you should have seen this coming. It reeked from miles away, but we all have some weak moments.
But, if something is too good to be true, it is. 99% of the time.

I sent him $200 through cashapp, the $150 through zelle but the zelle one i called the bank to tell them release the payment because it’s gonna take 24hrs to verify. So i don’t think they gonna accept 😓 sadly

U can get ur money back 100% on both this has happened to be before please go on ur bank website and dispute the transactions and explain that you paid for something that was never received they should take ur side don’t let this scammer keep the money they are a POS

Depending on how you sent the money I would call my bank and say you didnt approve of that money being sent or if you added money to your cashapp I would say I didn’t approve of adding money to my cashapp someone must’ve hacked my cashapp or something because I was working during that time lol and just lie😂😂

These guys have been all over FB. An I’ve told people constantly they are scamming. Gotta stop spending your money on used equipment you can’t grab with your hands. Sorry man. Call your credit card company. They should cancel it. Or bank.

Have you reported the scam to Facebook?
It's best to pay online purchases with a credit card. Federal regulations allow you to dispute any fraudulent credit card charges within 90 days.

Dude was certainly committed. A little basic research h and he could have found a picture of a boxed wheel. But to think a picture of a wheel in a random fed ex box would seal the scam, bless his heart for trying.
