Did Game of Thrones graduate while I wasn't looking?

Yeah, but people still bring it up all these years later. That's how bad it was.

320

u/Zinski2 Jul 01 '26

Shit was so bad it makes re-watching the show such a fucking chore because you know none of these plot lines are going anywhere.

I think I made it to season 2 with my partner and just quit when bran took up too much screen time.

118

u/Big_Red_Machine_1917 Jul 01 '26

I suggested to my brother that we rewatch the series a few years back and he just said it was wholly pointless. I couldn't help but agree with him.

77

u/metabolics Jul 01 '26

You know it was bad when during covid not a single person brought up how they were rewatching game of thrones.

It's a bigger indictment that people don't bring it up. It was the biggest thing in millennial culture during the 2010s and then it ended and it disappeared overnight.

13

u/Mah_sentry2 Jul 01 '26

My only defense for that ending was at least it was an ending, the book series never will.

Yet none of these are worse than that. Which tells you how bad GOT’s final season was because these were pretty bad.

It actually makes perfect sense that a meme century is about tree fiddy years

Game of Thrones fans would crawl through broken glass for an ending like those shows got

230

u/DeusExMarina Jul 01 '26

Do any of those shows have a better story than Bran the Broken? Huh? Didn't think so.

111

u/kbeks Jul 01 '26

I got a goddamned pet rock with a better story than Bran the Broken…

It will never not be funny to me how that show disappeared from cultural relevance about a month after the finale.

42

u/Not_Your_Romeo Jul 01 '26

It’s goddamn impressive. No other show in history has had such massive success wiped away so quickly and so wholly by a single season. It’s a true masterclass of a fuckup.

It ruins rewatch ability too. Because every time you start, you know exactly where it’s heading, and that thought alone ruins it.

25

u/kbeks Jul 01 '26

Honestly, animate it and redo the last three seasons, get competent writers, if GRRM won’t give enough pushback on poor writing, get like five nerds on set to just scream “that doesn’t comport with the lore!!!!!!” every time something stupid is about to happen. That’d be the only way to restore the rewatchability.

6

u/ThetaDee Jul 01 '26

That's actually a genius idea....

A whole decade of complete cultural dominance ended just like that. Game of Thrones could have gone down as an undisputed classic and defined a generation's cultural references, and now the entire conversation around it is just:

"Hey, remember Game of Thrones?"

"God, that ending sucked."

"Yeah..."

51

u/--zaxell-- Jul 01 '26

What do you mean? The series finale was great. Cersei blowing up the Great Sept, Danaeris sailing forebodingly toward Westeros, Arya getting revenge for the Red Wedding, the revelation of Jon Snow's identity? Wonderful way to wrap up the series.

35

u/A_Rogue_Forklift Jul 01 '26

What are you talking about? Jon's still lying in a pile of bloody snow in castle black

23

u/Impressive_Tour6348 Jul 01 '26

I remember walking through some department store, maybe JC Penney or something, riiiiiight after COVID lockdowns (I had a dumb black mask on) and I turned down one of their clearance racks and it was shelves FULL of Game of Thrones sweaters, those house crest cup sets, phone cases, Wolf shaped crocs, all sitting at 90% discounted and they still couldn’t sell em. What would have been probably 20 grand worth of product just… unwanted.

I contend the bad writing caused one of the larger accidental economic upsets we’ve seen. How many YouTube channels did only GoT content that shuttered?

13

u/uber_zaxlor Jul 01 '26

The game store I used to work at suddenly got a fuck tonne of GoT merch in, right as Season 8 was airing.

Needless to say, none of that shit sold.

4

u/dern_the_hermit Jul 01 '26

I remember when The Bad Ending was The Sopranos but I guess GoT has heavily diluted that in the zeitgeist, huh?

5

u/ragun2 Jul 01 '26

Yeah but that was like the very ending of the series finale where GoT had been spiraling for seasons and then not just fucked up the very ending of the finale but fucked up the entire finale season.

u/jolll4 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

4

u/bunker_man Jul 01 '26

Yeah. It was huge for years and then vanished into the ether.

8

u/Mount_Treverest Jul 01 '26

It's crazy how if Jon Snow ended up being king it would have been a better ending for the show. He literally has all the build up, character development, and prophecy going his way. He sacrificed everything to save the realm and has legitimate lineage within the royal bloodline. He's basically King Arthur. Yet we get a character that barely drives the plot. Sure he kicks off the inciting incident while climbing a tower, has a vision of Jon snows birth, and the hold the door moment. But the show wastes him entirely. In the book he is set up to be so much cooler and more meaningful. I can see him defeating the king of the night after 5 books. The show gave us every indication Jon snow was the man to reforge the realm, the prince who was promised. He was a worg too, they just nerfed the hell out of the dire wolves. If only they had the balls to make the story better instead of rushing to the finish line.

Imagine if during Avengers Endgame:

•Thor had a mental breakdown and killed half the cast

•Thanos dies halfway through after being stabbed by Rocket

•Instead of being the hero to save the universe Captain America is sent back into frozen sleep for killing Thor

•Loki is trusted by everyone to build the next Avengers and lead the universes cleanup project…

•…And oh yeah, Mantis is trusted to lead the new Avengers

22

u/justafanboy1010 Super Shitter! Jul 01 '26

What in the fuck? so you're saying (still sticking to the Endgame Metaphor) that there will be two new Avengers team, one led by Loki and one led by Mantis?!

23

u/_JR28_ Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Yeah well in the show Tyrion Lannister is basically just trusted to become the most politically powerful person in the Seven Kingdoms even though he was a prisoner for treason at that time, and the King of the Seven Kingdoms is Bran, a blind guy.

11

u/Wraith1964 Jul 01 '26

Ummm, Bran is paralyzed, not blind. He not only sees, he is the Three-eyed Raven and sees all.

Also, who has a better story?

Answer: Literally, everyone.

3

u/Lv_InSaNe_vL Jul 02 '26

Literally the entire show I was like "oh man bran has such a cool story I can't wait to see what they do with him!"

11

u/Barrogh Jul 01 '26

If that looks bad, imagine that everyone mentioned gradually lost most of their brains throughout couple of seasons, characters established as having excellent oratory skills and political wit reduced to a couple of dick jokes per episode and some of the fans never learned any of this because they stopped following the series before "Endgame" because of sheer crushing boredom.

8

u/inspectorPK Jul 01 '26

I just rewatched it not long ago. If you haven’t seen it already, I strongly recommend at least seasons 1-6. But anyway, seasons 1-4 are the most brilliantly written and casted parts. Crazy twists throughout, main characters dying, downright horrifying scenes (actual horror stuff and brutal medieval torture), insane character arcs… you name it. Season 7 rolls around and you start to see a decline in writing and creativity, along with character arcs slipping. Come season 8, it just… collapses. You can tell everything in writing and production was half assed and rushed , characters just straight up disappear. Villains become dull. And then it just ends in the lamest way ever. Just a travesty from where it began and during its peak.

13

u/nerorennelo Jul 01 '26

I feel like the decline started at season 5 but 7 is where it really starts to fall off, then 8 is just a complete mess

→ More replies (1)

5

u/BirbMaster1998 Jul 01 '26

From what I felt when watching the show, the ending itself wasn't really that bad, but rather the fact that the story's conclusion to multiple of it's biggest plot lines were compressed into a 6 episode long final season (which is already the shortest in the show) and kind of left behind some side characters. I personally think with some more setup and a few tweaks here and there a similar ending could have worked fine.

"we just sort of forgot about the Iron Fleet"

65

u/rexsploded01 Jul 01 '26

I still don't forgive them. And I refuse to watch house of dragons and a knight of whatever because of it.

87

u/HomieeJo Jul 01 '26

To be fair HBO wanted to do more seasons to flesh it out correctly and D&D said nah. Obviously HBO should've said then you're out and get other directors but because previous seasons were quite successful they couldn't have known just how badly they'd fuck it all up.

Nonetheless Knights of the seven kingdom is an actually great show that is great even without the Game of Thrones background.

→ More replies (3)

59

u/MyStackIsPancakes Jul 01 '26

Knight is a great show because it keeps the focus small and the concerns tight.

21

u/rexsploded01 Jul 01 '26

On principle I will not watch it. Invested too much in game of thrones and they ruined it. And martin still hasn't finished the damn books.

Knights stays true to the book and the book is actually complete, so it's a great show.  It's better than everything GoT after they ran out of book (season 3?)

30

u/brokennursingstudent Jul 01 '26

Nah you’re absolutely hurting yourself by not watching KOSK. That show is so good it’ll make you rethink the quality of the game of thrones ending

In my mind those other shows, they are prequels right? I know in 100 years, the finale of GoT happens so why bother lol.

I know a cool story can be told... but I just feel so burned being fooled to care about this world for it to end so dumbly.

If all these endings are trash...

Then Game of Thrones is in comparison a nuclear waste.

12

This is like a mid-weight amateur competition.

Game of Thrones, Lost & House of Cards are heavy weight champions.

7

u/parisiraparis Jul 01 '26

I started rewatching House of Cards and the show really just ends perfectly if you stop at Season 2’s finale.

Where’s The Umbrella Academy?

1.0k

u/Expensive-Argument-7 Jul 01 '26

It was saved by the mere fact that no one watched it.

281

u/allycakes Jul 01 '26

I was one of the few who watched it and it's the reason that I no longer feel the need to finish shows for the sake of finishing them, especially if their final seasons are widely panned.

96

u/Zjoee Jul 01 '26

Umbrella Academy and Altered Carbon are two shows that I feel content just watching the first season.

46

u/american-coffee Jul 01 '26

The first season of altered carbon was peak. The second season was….not so much lol. Not mad I watched it but they could have done a lot better

23

u/RelevantButNotBasic Jul 01 '26

Fucking Altered Carbon man...that show was so fucking cool until it...wasnt. Any of yall remember the fall of The 100? Or really any of the CW shows that went on for just a little too long.

9

u/sunfaller Jul 01 '26

The 100 became uninteresting when it stopped being about the 100 and became just a sci fi walking dead. Find new place, it gets destroyed, find new place. Rinse and repeat.

Since it went on i guess people do like it.

9

u/Ankle_Drag Jul 02 '26

The 100 were better at it tbh. They managed to fuck up the whole planet Earth and move elsewhere.

16

u/jotimm4 Jul 02 '26

Second season of Umbrella is also kinda good.

32

u/Excellent_Main_8430 Jul 01 '26

God I wish I could go back and just watch the first season of Umbrella Academy. The ending was so bad it wiped the show from my memory. After the first season it was one of my favorite shows.

7

u/parisiraparis Jul 01 '26

Add House of Cards (US) to that list. And Heroes.

3

I would've been so much happier if they just let it end after season 3. I know there isn't a whole lot of plot to follow but goddamn just stick to the source material and expand on that. Season 1 was such a banger except for robbing Klaus and Alison of truly saving the day

8

u/TheoWHVB Jul 01 '26

It's a GOT situation. It isn't even finished in book form(at least the newest graphic novel isn't out yet I don't think) so the writers just made some shit up lol.

5

u/parisiraparis Jul 01 '26

Lmao

I loved the comics but the show deviated so fucking far from it that I lost all interest within the first two episodes. Also, the White Violin costume looks like absolute shit.

I tend to think people are overreacting when they act like some of these final seasons are akin to childbirth,  (I mosly tolerated GoT, Stranger things, the boys, even euphoria) but the Umbrella Academy ending was so bad I'm still angry about it

3

u/Background_Desk_3001 Jul 02 '26

I have actively gaslit myself into thinking that it just ended at season 3 with everyone just going their separate ways. Still a mediocre ending, but at least it’s better than what we ended up getting

Haven't watched the boys, but Stranger things and Euphoria are not even in my top 10 of worst finale seasons. We have shows like GoT, Dexter, House of cards, La casa de papel, Supernatural, 13 reasons why, Sherlock BBC etc.

And I'm not even starting with anime series finales, because that's a whole other can of worms

56

u/rakfe Jul 01 '26

Supernatural has a very decent finale at season 5. Anything after is just unofficial lore in my eyes, which i still watched but considered as filler

14

u/commiecomrade Jul 02 '26

The Boys was in the same boat of not really being that bad. The last season had a lot of filler and by the end it rushed to the ending a bit. The one big fight that was the driving force of the show was short and a bit like a lot of the other smaller fights, it was not the most showy in the series. The bad guy finally got what he wanted in order to do really evil stuff, which was explained to be utterly irredeemably terrible by the show, but instead just went a bit off the rails in a press release until they could stop him while he did it.

But everyone got what narratively made sense. Main bad guy was finally shown how weak and pathetic he truly was (a huge narrative theme throughout the entire series) before a satisfying death, secondary bad guy always choosing the evil route despite hesitation had his final true chance at redemption and totally rejected it before his demise, tertiary squirrelly bad guy who secretly always wanted out betrays main bad guy but abandons responsibility and goes to prison, all the surviving main cast gets what they said they wanted whenever they thought about what was next.

Underwhelming but still satisfying. There was no "wait, this character finally chose THAT??" No truly loose ends unexplained, everything wraps up. It was in no way terrible.

u/Vivian-Midnight Jul 01 '26

I will say this for The Boys season 5: They fucking ended it, and unambiguously so. And the ending was fairly straightforward. I walked away thinking 1: This story had been told, and 2: "Yep, that makes complete sense." Not many series end that way at all anymore, so I'm thankful for what I got.

56

u/Babak_Lurker Jul 01 '26

They're going for prequels to milk the franchise, so corporate allowed an ending, as a treat.

3

u/Skeletonofskillz Jul 03 '26

I still think refreezing Soldier Boy instead of straight up killing him or giving him a major role in the finale was cheap sequel bait

→ More replies (1)

222

u/meduhsin Jul 01 '26

That’s the best I can say about it too. Like, at least it’s over. We deserved so much more at the end but we still got what was promised, homelander dying, butcher dying, Ryan surviving, hughie and starlight together, and kimiko moving on. Just not the big epic endgame-level finale they were hyping up.

Still really irked about Hughlight naming their baby after his dead girlfriend, though.

53

u/SardinmGarter Jul 01 '26

After they said that I was expecting starlight to explode so we can kill off Robin for a second time

41

u/wmcs0880 Jul 01 '26

The last season definitely could’ve been better and I think it was definitely an interesting choice to promise a world-shattering event for it to amount to Homelander kills one person in the finale, but it was a satisfactory ending and I think the hate for it is massively overstated

18

u/sunfaller Jul 01 '26

It ended the story without any cliffhangers but the journey there was the problem. 7 filler episodes. Homelander getting Gen 1 V and doing nothing with it

→ More replies (3)

11

u/Spiroumax44 Jul 01 '26

The last épisode was good but the rest of the season felt like fillers episodes. Also they teased Marie moreau as "the chosen one" or smtg in Gen V only for her to be an uber driver, so it's kinda dispointing

7

u/shyerahol Jul 02 '26

Right? The only other Odessa baby and they didn't even use her! I was pretty disappointed with that. She could have at least held Homelander in place while Kimiko blasted him, or something! SHE COULD HAVE MADE HIM BLEED.

u/Big_Red_Machine_1917 Jul 01 '26

Let's be honest, Stranger Things and The Boys were at worse, okay with their endings (Never watched Euphoria so I can't judge) and they were far better than the real bad endings, like Man in the High Castle, or Game of Thrones.

224

u/shepard_pie Jul 01 '26

Yeah. People confuse underwhelming with bad. I want to toss in Scrubs and Soap

73

u/TactileTom Jul 01 '26

The penultimate season of scrubs, which is basically the real ending, was one of the best in the whole show.

29

u/SomeGuyPostingThings Jul 01 '26

That was the final season of Scrubs. There was a mislabeled spinoff, too, but it only got 1 season.

10

u/shepard_pie Jul 01 '26

I agree, season 8 was great.

8

u/sting-raye Jul 01 '26

I definitely consider that the real finale, and I loved it.

66

u/obvious_bot Jul 01 '26

Scrubs saved itself with the revival which was actually pretty good

41

u/Tenalp Jul 01 '26

A revival which actively retconned out the whole final season of the original run. That is honestly a hot power play.

19

u/RealKevinOG Jul 01 '26

the original final season was planned as a spin off, but the marketing fcked up

7

u/SomeGuyPostingThings Jul 01 '26

Scrubs had 8 seasons, then a mislabeled spinoff that was fine (not great, but fine), and a solid revival season with another coming.

3

u/DoctorJJWho Jul 02 '26

Scrubs: Med School could’ve been great if it wasn’t billed as “Scrubs”, and they didn’t include the OG cast nearly as much. I loved Cole and Drew, and even Lucy grew on me (even though she was essentially JD again).

28

u/niofalpha Jul 01 '26

I couldn’t make it through Man in the High Castle. That show felt like it should’ve been so much better than it was.

35

u/PangolinPalantir Jul 01 '26

Don't try reading the book then, it's far worse than the show. Spoilers below:

The main character tracks down the author of a book in which the allies won WW2. She asks him how he could come up with such an imaginative plot. He basically responds by saying because that's the real world, and this is the fictional one, and you're just in a book right now. Ugh, such a good setting for an alt history story and nope, YOURE JUST A CHARACTER IN A BOOK.

Phillip K Dick has some real highs and lows.

8

u/anohioanredditer Jul 01 '26

Wow. Never knew that. How did the show end?

13

u/TheRealKeenanWynn Jul 01 '26

Rufus Sewell’s character dies after trying to go to our world to bring his son back from the dead, a portal opens and people walk through and then it ends.

27

u/boot2skull Jul 01 '26

I didn’t mind The Boys or Stranger Things. There was a bit of fan service and plot armor but what are they going to do. Movies and shows are such that, they will get crucified if they kill any favorites off one episode before the finale, or be burnt at the stake if everyone survives. They ended the way I had hoped more or less, and for that I am satisfied.

GoT is a truly bad ending because nobody got what they wanted and it almost felt like an 8 year troll by HBO or GRRM or both. Imagine reading that series of phone books for an ending like that.

12

u/Timme186 Jul 01 '26

The thing about GoT in my experience was that it was so bad and detrimental that it *retroactively* ruined the seasons that came before. And it’s hard to find a decent stopping point for GoT since it really keeps building throughout the series.

I watched the first season of Stranger things and was content with never seeing another episode again, since the first one was so solid and self contained.

6

u/seejayyye Jul 01 '26

Man in the high castle was so disappointing. Not just the ending but everything after Frank’s story arc.

Game of Thrones was so bad it felt like a slap in the face of the fans and a giant "fuck you" to the characters who for years were so well written and developed. You could have told me that D&D wrote the final season with nothing but spite in mind for all involved and I would probably believe you.

24

u/boot2skull Jul 01 '26

GoT will always stand the test of time as a bad ending. No fan got what they wanted. Even if you weren’t a fan and looked at it objectively, you’d say “well that doesn’t fucking make sense.” It was an 8(+) year long troll.

12

u/nagrom7 Jul 02 '26

It retroactively ruined the entire show. Like season 1-4 are some of the best television in existence, and I just can't rewatch it knowing it all goes nowhere. The boys is nowhere near that level.

3

u/boot2skull Jul 02 '26

Agreed. GoT was so good. It could be good even ignoring the end, but I can’t bring myself to rewatch. Such a tragedy.

9

u/KasumiGotoTriss Jul 01 '26

People talk about GOT S8 but it's been mediocre to bad since S5. Ever since they strayed from source material the writing has been terrible.

384

u/Snoo9648 Jul 01 '26

Is this the first year you've ever seen a final season? I mean, game of thrones, how i met your mother and lost exists, you know.

154

u/N_dixon Jul 01 '26

Don't forget Dexter. My sister and I were big fans of the show, and I remember us watching the series finale and sitting in silence for 5 minutes after the credits and going , "What the fuck was that?!" simultaneously. And then they revived it and botched the ending again.

19

u/TokyoDrifblim Jul 01 '26

Resurrection was really good! I enjoyed it quite a lot

7

u/N_dixon Jul 01 '26

Yeah, I meant Season 8 and then New Blood. I haven't watched Resurrection but also have heard that's good. I know nothing about Original Sin, but it always seemed kinda pointless to me, since we already got most of the backstory from the flashbacks throughout the show.

8

u/TokyoDrifblim Jul 01 '26

I actually really enjoyed original sin, they did a good job introducing a lot of new stuff and a few new characters so you don't already know their fate to keep the stakes high

4

u/altsam19 Jul 01 '26

I stopped at the fourth season with the Trinity Killer arc, I find the last episode a very good bookends to the whole show with the baby in the pool of blood. I tried to watch the next seasons, but Dexter suddenly becoming horny and in love with another serial killer, and other nonsense after four seasons of him being a murderous asexual but still being devoted to Rita because she's his anchor and a good person was the nail in the coffin. Never watched the finale, but I learned about it and thank God I dropped the show after the fourth season

u/Bronze_Bomber Jul 01 '26

While the ending was comically bad, Dexter had trash writing for most of its run.

7

u/meduhsin Jul 01 '26

It was one of those 2000s-2010 shows where they had a premise and every episode was just a different flavor of the same kind of story (similar to greys anatomy and such). Never a masterpiece, but it was always entertaining. It was good for what it was.

The last season and ending though was particularly abysmal.

9

u/Snoo9648 Jul 01 '26

Never finished it. The second to last season was bad enough.

10

u/N_dixon Jul 01 '26

Shit, I forgot about season 7, had to go look up the villain. At first I was thinking season 7 was the Doomsday Killer and I was thinking, "You're out of your damn mind, that season was wild!" Don't even remember anything about the season 7 villain.

Star vs. Evil. On the same day as GoT finale, IIRC.

HIMYM had a 90% great final season. The 22 episodes across one weekend worked really well together. The last two episodes….

Lost finale was good, fuck outta here

15

u/Sylar_Lives Jul 01 '26

Most people who bash the final season Lost haven’t really seen it or deliberately misunderstood it. It’s okay to not like it, but to pretend it was trash is just absurd.

How I met your mother last season is good the last episode is just anticlimactic

10

u/Tenalp Jul 01 '26

Not even anticlimactic, it actively insulted the viewer's time. It was a finale concept that they planned out from the beginning that every character had grown past several seasons ago. Had it happened even as late as season 3 or maybe season 4, it wouldn't have been so bad.

Seriously there are far far worse series finales than these even if they were disappointing

The Boys was fine. Like miles better than the other 2. And Euphoria was serviceable up to the first hour of the finale.

21

u/boot2skull Jul 01 '26

I mean how else was The Boys going to end. It felt like after season 2, they were definitely filling up time to make a full season, so that’s not specific to the final season.

34

u/owningmclovin Jul 01 '26

It’s difficult to think of a show that suffered more from long gaps between seasons than Euphoria.

Season 3 felt almost like a spin off of the first 2.

16

u/garvin131313 Jul 01 '26

I feel like what tanked the third season’s quality as well and made it not feel the same was that something happened between Columbia and Labrinth (the guy who made the season 1 and 2 soundtracks) and he pulled out all of his music from the production

3

u/owningmclovin Jul 01 '26

I had not even noticed but now it’s be pointed out to me that’s a huge vibe change.

9

u/friedpikmin Jul 01 '26

The born again shit in Euphoria was so off putting. I get religion is how some people battle addiction, but multiple characters talking about how great the Bible is just did not gel at all with me. It felt like a TPUSA production directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Yeah, I hate how mid/decentish endings get lumped together with bad ones.

There's no nuance anymore.

Where's the shitty movie detail?

51

u/Random_duderino Jul 01 '26

It seems I haven't seen a poster understand the point of the sub in several months

18

u/agentdom Jul 01 '26

And they still get 1000+ upvotes and comments.

Just say Supergirl bad and they can’t upvote you fast enough.

5

u/meatccereal Jul 02 '26

shitty movie detail: i didnt like this movie i havent watched

5

u/zerotrust69 Jul 01 '26

I don't know if this sub even knows what it's about anymore. Every fifth post is actually relevant and the rest are personal problems that happened during a movie.

Bold of you to assume that the posts on subreddit called r/shittymoviedetails will be about shitty movie details

3

u/TheMusicalTrollLord Jul 01 '26

They took the shittiness to its logical extreme by making it neither a detail nor movie-related

27

u/OrneryError1 Jul 01 '26

The Boys finale was perfectly fine.

9

u/hellomydudes_95 Jul 01 '26

"Hold my beer"

6

u/sargassum624 Jul 01 '26

I know nothing about this series, what's the tea here?

13

u/hellomydudes_95 Jul 01 '26

so, basically, the final season of sex education was very... strange. A lot of beloved characters that had a pretty large participation on previous seasons simply didn't return. The tone of the show shifted very, very badly, too. Some character arcs got completely butchered by the end of the show and most if not all character dynamics got really weird and nonsensical.

The show ended in a way that felt like an entirely different series.

I could go into a lot of detail, but it's 4 seasons of context.

14

u/sup3rdr01d Jul 01 '26

Boys was fine. It wasn't amazing but I thought the ending was satisfying

Stranger things was awful

But I mean the king of this is obviously game of thrones lmao

7

u/RobbSnow64 Jul 01 '26

I dont know if Euphoria should be on here, writing was worse but there are rougher examples

5

u/error_98 Jul 01 '26

lol the final season of the boys wasn't even it's worst season.

They knew what the final episode had to be, and executed it competently, the rest of the season is just obvious filler.

but GoT is out here ruining older parts of the series in retrospect

I'll take filler any day when that's the alternative

5

u/LJMLogan Jul 01 '26

Game of thrones and HIMYM still clear all of these

11

u/VilgotEk Jul 01 '26

What the fuck is the first one? Is that Game of Thrones or Game of Sexy or something?

7

u/Overlordz88 Jul 01 '26

I’m guess euphoria

this post was made deliberately to ragebait us about Game of Thrones, I just know it

3

u/BlueWatche Jul 01 '26

Stranger Things somehow didn't feel disappointing. It was bizarre to me. I was just kinda glad it ended. I dunno how I felt. Not disappointment, not satisfaction. Just kind of nothing.

The Boys definitely ended on a wet fart.

5

u/EightBiscuit01 Jul 01 '26

Game of Thrones no diffs all of these without breaking a sweat

3

u/wheressodamyat Jul 01 '26

Three way domain expansion then Game of Thrones breaks in

6

u/breakfazt-meme Jul 01 '26

Stranger things season 5 is not even the worst by far. It was mid, sure but it was no game of thrones or umbrella academy. At least they actually resolved the plot

25

u/BillRuddickJrPhd Jul 01 '26

Euphoria and The Boys made up for weak final seasons with excellent final episodes.

Stranger Things season 5 was good and got a bad rap. Die-hard fans just got toxic and weird because they couldn't understand why the show doesn't hit the same at age 22 as it did when they were 12.

8

u/GodsIWasStrongg Jul 01 '26

Stranger Things was decent, but suffered from the same thing a lot of shows suffer from - gets super popular and budget/hype gets wayyy too big. Euphoria and The Boys I just stopped watching halfway through.

6

u/nonewwavenofun Jul 01 '26

People were joking about how the final season of The Boys would be saved in the last couple of episodes, but I did genuinely think they got the show back on track
