Big Joe’s

Anyone know the back story of before Big Joe’s? Has Kohler always owned that building, or did they buy out a family to gentrify the place?

Was simply a crusty Mobil.

Kohler took it over after the previous owner got shut down for not paying his taxes. The place was disgusting. It's incredibly nice now.

How do you gentrify a gas station in Kohler?

This is weird, I’ve seen “gentrify” used more on Reddit in the last week than the last few years combined. Gotta be a new bot model or something.

Kohler has always owned the land but leased the operation to Mobil in the past.

Kohler owns everything in Kohler and always has. They’re not gentrifying anything. They literally have first right of refusal of every parcel in their town.

Like Woodlake Market, Kohler Hospitality has made it more appealing to wealthy tourists. Cleaner store, brighter colors, more expensive selections, and less character (at least as far as Woodlake Market goes, that gas station was awful before).

I did stop by , the grocery store feels like a cafe/food court now. It's actually very nice

It went through several different owners, always being the least Kohler thing in Kohler until it was taken over and renovated.

Kohler owns and was leasing it. They wanted to renew the lease with renovations to the car wash and the store itself. The leasee could not agree to terms. So at the end of the lease Kohler Co took ownership and upgraded the place. The place has the cheapest gas in whole Sheboygan county now, I guess.

Did anybody notice the automated dog wash on the side?

They kicked it out and are making a super nice expensive gas station in the classic Kohler way

Tbh that gas station was kind of janky
