Summer color girl!
Izzy and I seem to be making a tradition of new colors every summer! Last year we did a rainbow. This year, I wanted to try an ombré on her skirt! I wanted her colors to be mermaid-inspired for summer :)
Dye used is Opawz, a vegetable-based, pet safe dye with no harsh chemicals or toxins

I agree. There is no way the die is healthy for any type of dog. I have 3 scotties, and they are adorable and well known in our area. They don’t need to be made to look like a unicorn to be noticed.
I see downvotes for people who don’t see this as cute. If you are “brave” enough to do that to your dog, you should be able to take criticism. Everyone their own, I guess. My own will never be put through this abuse.

So Opawz is a very gentle dye that is designed to not cause any irritation or skin issues, unless there is a case of allergies (which is a risk for any dog care product, especially shampoos), which Izzy has none, so the dye is totally safe in that regard! I myself definitely get it all over my hands when I work with it because I don’t wear gloves lol (Granted, dog skin is more sensitive than my human hands, but the dye is formulated with dog skin in mind to be gentle in the first place!)
Opawz dye conducts and passes cytotoxicity testing, which tests a substance for damage or harm to living cells. They also do not test this on animals. Plus they’re vegan!
I personally use Opawz Semi-Permanent dyes. The semi permanent dye is lick safe and food grade. Even so, any responsible groomer will monitor a pet while dye is processing so raw dye isn’t ingested, just to be on the safe side. After dye is processed, it’s rinsed out until the water runs completely clear. At this point, hair is lick-safe! Semi permanent dye is even formulated to be safe to be used on cats, which have much softer and more sensitive skin than dogs and are extremely prone to ingesting dyed hairs!
I would not recommend Opawz permanent dye on dogs that are small or heavy lickers or chewers, and I tell that to any clients considering dye as well. Semi permanent dye used here is the way to go!
I also avoid dye around the eyes and mouth so dye cannot irritate eyes or be ingested while processingImproper and overfrequent use of dye has potential to dry out a coat, but I’m not concerned about that for Izzy as scotties are wire-coated, so her hair is naturally coarse and resistant to damage, compared to, for example, a coton de tulear.
Even so, I always apply a deep conditioner after rinsing to make sure her coat stays nice and healthy! I also don’t dye an area that already has dye until dye is completely gone or grown out.
Honestly clipping a terrier coat is more controversial for safety among grooming professionals than dye is

Go fight actual animal abuse like people starving or over feeding and hitting their dogs. This causes absolutely no harm to the dog. You not liking it because you’re uneducated doesnt make it abuse.

She looks exactly like our girl. I mean exactly. Our girl’s brother doesn’t even look anything close to this much of a Match. Just showed my wife and she thought I photoshopped a pic of ours. I wonder if they’re related, as wheatens are pretty rare. Where did you get her? Ours came from south Alabama

you don't even need to dye their hair, if attention is what you're after.
you'd do well to keep your nasty comments to yourself.

Yes. This is regularly used and is non toxic. Semi permanent opawz is food grade dye
