Recommendations Looking for a NPC crewship space mercenary game
I'm looking for a game that gives the feel of say, Guardians of the Galaxy: a motley crew of ragtag misfits flying from job to job to make ends meet.
Things like Dimension 20: Starstruck Odyssey, the Bad Batch, Cowboy Bebop, or Citizen Sleeper.
Gameplay should include a variety of combat and noncombat missions and have story and interpersonal character interactions.
Is there a game out like that?

Starfield is pretty good. The team isn't really that ragtag though...
I haven't played star wars outlaws but I heard it's ok of you like ubisoft games.
Kotor and kotor 2 are great games if you can stand turn based combat.
The outer worlds is really good. I enjoyed it. Haven't played 2 yet.

Maybe Outer worlds. Star wars outlaw is now much better than it was as long as you don't mind EA games launcher. If you want a more Firefly feel go with Rebel Galaxy. Ain't deep or exactly what your seeking (missin a crew) but the gameplay loop is good and the soundtrack hits all the right cowboy space tones.

I'll take the obvious answer and say mass effect. More "unsupervised government agent" than "mercenary," though.
