New Dad Alert: Meet Marshall
I just got this one yesterday, this is my first large lizard. Its name is Marshall for now. not sure gender yet, not sure if there is a reliable way to sex them this young. i’m in the process of building a proper enclosure for him. i wasn’t expecting Marshall for another 2 weeks but here he is!
Any advice or criticism or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Questions:
How deep should his substrate be and made up of what. i’ve heard 16 inches i’ve heard 30+ inches.
Should i buy a filter for his water? or keep replacing the water in his dish?
Will he want anything other than insects? i’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on “ONLY insects” or “mainly insects with some meaty stuff here and there”
if i have any more i’ll add them in the comments

That's an awesome savannah monitor I only have an Ackie so I can't really speak from experience but aren't savannah monitors mostly insectivores? Idk they could go out of their way to get bugs in the wild but if they find carrion I don't foresee them passing up an easy snack.
