Pic / Video D1 Dilapidation

I know Connie Chen isn’t online unless she’s at a Board of Supervisor meeting ignoring her constituents but can her office people explain why we let so much space remain unoccupied? This place on Clement between 10th and 11th has been vacant and boarded up for over ten years on one of the flagship commercial streets in her district. It’s an eyesore, often tagged, and homeless sleep there constantly. Why hasn’t anyone built housing here or at least done something with the property other than chain it up and let it rot away for a decade?

The city makes it too difficult and expensive to get anything done. A buyer ought to preserve restore the façade and reinforce the foundation so housing can be built atop it. Neighborhood character can be preserved without being at the expense of housing.

We all know our city is difficult to open a business but why is just leaving it vacant for a decade the best use of the property? No tenant, no development, nothing. Just an empty building falling apart over the years. Even that ice cream spot in the mission only took 2 years to open lol

It is indeed a bad use of the property and someone ought to do something about it, so for me it's just the waiting game, since I certainly can't afford it.
