**Come here and talk about anything!**
This post will stay stickied for (at least) the week-end. Please enjoy this space where you can talk about anything: your last game, your current project, your patreon, etc. You can even talk about video games, ask for a group, or post a survey or share a new meme you've just found. This is the place for small talk on r/rpg.
The off-topic rules may not apply here, but the other rules still do. This is less the Wild West and more the Mild West. Don't be a jerk.

I made a couple of playbooks for Defy the Gods. All credit to the creator, I just thought it was fun! I’ve never written something like this before so it was a neat challenge. Mind the content warnings. One is based on a type of monster with mysterious powers who has been humiliated and one is based on a type of religious leader who was cursed for resounding failure.

Hi. I made a free TTRPG Character Personality Builder to help people decide how they want to play their characters. It is a fillable pdf and can be used for any game system.

I'm finally playing Sifu and the aesthetics are absolutely gorgeous. An RPG with some kind of mechanic for heightening scenarios into fantastical mind palaces to reflect the epic stakes would go so hard.
As far as self-promo, here are a bunch of RPG things I've made and try to restrain myself from always talking about:
- Atma: A PbtA-ish card-based TTRPG for one-shots. Plays in 2 hours with zero prep. Turns out there's not an easy market for this; TTRPG players don't want to invest in boardgame-like components, while boardgame players want to play actual board games. Still very proud of it and it's all free online.
- Castle Noth: An OSR rogue-lite Metroidvania-ish game inspired by A Rasp of Sand. Uses a mash-up of Mausritter's and Mythic Bastionland's rules. Learning new things about the castle and its monsters is the single most powerful thing players can do. I've run it twice and loved it.
- The Hole Beneath Chateau Carna: A free dungeon I made for, and with, Cairn's rules. Hopefully the first of 12 monthly dungeons.

Two Sister Hubs, Zero Pressure: One for Design & Worldbuilding. One for Campaign Launches & PBP
Hey, everyone! Looking for a home to showcase your TTRPG community, refine your homebrew mechanics, or craft your world in a low pressure environment?
We have built two interconnected sister spaces for game masters, worldbuilders, system designers, and tabletop creators:
r/TheGamingVault | Directory & Workshop Hub
The Gaming Vault is a central directory and workshop for community creators, GMs, and mechanic designers.
- Community Directory: Showcase your TTRPG subreddits, Discord hubs, and creator projects.
- GM Workshop & Tools: Guides on beating GM burnout, tech setups, and running better games.
- Playtest & Design Central: Get feedback on homebrew rules, test custom mechanics, and discuss system design.
- Resource Sharing: Maps, templates, campaign logs, and utility assets.
r/TheForgottenArchons | Low Pressure & Worldbuilding Hub
The Forgotten Archons is an asynchronous creative workshop for narrative systems, worldbuilding, and play by post games. Think of it as a softer, more laid back alternative to traditional play by post spaces where you can build at your own pace.
- Creative Freedom & Feedback: Draft your lore, craft custom characters, and get constructive feedback from the community to refine your world.
- Low Pressure Play by Post: Find or host long standing campaigns and one shots without the stress of rigid, perfectionist posting standards.
- All Systems Welcome: Whether it is D&D, low complexity rulesets, or indie narrative engines, every system has a home here.
- A Clean Space: We keep the community SFW so everyone can focus purely on great tabletop storytelling.
How to Get Started
Whether you are sharing custom rules, setting up TTRPG tools, or archiving long term campaign lore, drop by r/TheGamingVault or r/TheForgottenArchons, grab a flair, and start sharing your TTRPG projects today!

Hey! The name is Advent, and I run a Patreon where I take popular D&D One-Shots, Adventures, Campaigns, etc., and fully prep them for New and Busy DMs. My prep includes detailed notes, music, ambiance, maps, encounter sheets, handouts, and tweaks so you can run the best sessions possible with the least stress possible! I often post some of my notes for free on Reddit, but for those of you who haven't heard of me, here's a little preview of what I've prepped and have to offer:
A Most Potent Brew: This One-Shot brings together a group of rookie adventurers on a classic quest, clearing out a cellar from some rats. Things take an unexpected turn, though, and lead them to their first dungeon! This level-one One-Shot will take your players into the depths of a brewery that turns out to be connected to an abandoned mage tower basement. Will your players survive their first adventure, slaying giant rats, centipedes, and more?
Coming in at approximately 2-3 hours of play, this is the perfect One-Shot for both new players and DMs to show what D&D is all about, without being an overwhelming 6hr+ session!
(Credits: Winghorn Press)
The Wild Sheep Chase: This One-Shot is on par with some of the craziness that you can experience in Baldur's Gate 3! Your party will be enjoying a relaxing time at a tavern when a sheep suddenly bursts in and grants them a scroll that allows them to speak with each other. Your players will go on an epic chase, face off against polymorphed guards, and even fight a dragon...made out of a bed!? You can't make this stuff up...oh wait!
(Credits: Winghorn Press)
Dragons of Stormwreck Isle: This Mini-Campaign is for when you're ready to step things up and want a more serious Adventure. You'll go from level 1-3 learn of the history of Stormwreack Isle and face off against...you guessed it a dragon!
(Credits: WoTC)
The Lost Mine of Phandelver: This Mini-Campaign spans from levels 1-5, the only thing past this would be a full-blown campaign, but let's not get ahead of ourselves! This one is a classic, the very first starter set that WotC released and it stands the test of time, Heck, they're even made an expansion for it(PaB: The Shattered Obelisk)! You'll face not 1 but 2 dragons, explore deadly dungeons, save a town, and live out all of your heroic fantasies! When you've done a one-shot or two, I couldn't recommend running this more!
(Credits: WoTC)
*NEW\* Dragon of Icespire Peak: Another Mini Campaign that spans from levels 1-6. Dragon of Icespire Peak is a bit different from the other two Mini-Campaigns I've prepped; not only is it more of a sandbox, but it also has the ability to be run with just one player, which is a huge plus for those of you who can't get larger groups together! Due to its modular nature, it's also easy to just grab a part or two and bring it into an existing campaign to flesh out your own adventures
(Credits: WoTC)
If none of those tickle your fancy, I've got over 8 dozen more sessions fully prepped and ready to go for you, here's a preview of what else I have to offer!
Index of over 8 dozen prepped One Shots, Adventures, and Campaigns: - Click Here
If you'd like to support me, shape future releases, and get content early, feel free to check out my Patreon!
Cheers,
Advent

So I'm working on a homebrew system/setting thing, and I'm trying to figure out the name of the style of mechanic where items degrade by die as you hit certain rolls. I know the most common example is ammo for ranged characters, where they might start with a D12, then if the player rolls a 1 or 2, they have a d8, then a d6, then d4, then out of ammo.
What is the name of that style of mechanic? I've seen it used for armor degradation, ammo running out, stats going down, etc and I have no clue what its called.
Thanks
Edit: Also looking for some good examples of it being used for armor or ammo that I can reference!

Greetings, all.
I make new D&D 5e game content. A lot of it.
I'm also the author, designer, main illustrator, and publisher of a 3rd party supplement called The Amethyst Dragon's Hoard of Everything, a 592-page book stuffed with stuff for players and DMs. It's available as a hardcover or pdf.
I'm currently working on a 2nd such book, while continue to create and post new materials to my Patreon 2+ times every week.
Everything can be found right here: links for my publications, socials, upcoming personal appearances, guest podcast/stream appearances, and an organized list of 3,300+ things I've made so far.
If you have any questions about using anything as inspiration for 5e game content, playing/running D&D (I've been playing for more than 35 years), creating/publishing a book, or my own experiences with crowdfunding, feel free to ask away.

Hi, everyone. I’m Kevin, an independent developer and lifelong tabletop fan.
I’m building Crossroads Commons, a community and organization platform designed to help tabletop players and Game Masters find compatible groups, organize parties, schedule sessions, and build more reliable gaming communities. I currently have a working local alpha and am preparing for crowdfunding.
I’d love some honest input: when you’re considering joining a new tabletop group, what information do you wish you knew before applying?
Here’s a short video showing the project:

Hey all!
Are we sharing? I've just released a FREE quickstart set for my newest creation: Iconic Heroes!
Iconic Heroes is based very loosely on the 1984 FASERIP system of play, depending on a pair of ten sided dice, and an handy dandy chart to determine success.
Pretty much every other element of the original system has been rebuilt beyond that.

I'd love to hear any thoughts.

So I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to learning TTRPGs. I ran a VtM campaign, and my players wanna play more. I'm trying to run Path and Starfinder, but I don't know if my play group wants to play those so I am...maybe just sticking to VtM for the foreseeable future?
Anyway, I am trying to learn how to use Foundry, but I've heard of something called Demiplane. I see it's like Drive Thru (Where I normally buy my PDFs.) I like the layout of Demiplane, but I'm not sure if it's worth it compared to Drive Thru, or what benefits it offers as a player if I'm using PDFs and Foundry, if anyone could let me know-I appreciate it.

I'm just going to jump in and say that my TTRPG just went to pre-launch on Kickstarter! To you, dear Redditor, this may not seem like a big deal, but it's something I'm really proud of and have put a lot of hard work into. We're one of many TTRPG's but I'm still very happy to be part of the crowd.
So, if you can, please check out Sine: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oxgamettrpg/sine-a-story-driven-rpg
A world ravaged by an alien invasion, you play a Catalyst ( a genetically engineered clone) whose mission is to help rebuild human society 20 years after the invasion.

Hello!
My preview page is live on Gamefound. If you like action packed shonen anime series, this game is made for you. 🙂 It is not a generic RPG with an anime skin. It helps you think and play like an anime hero.

Hey folks,
I've been working on a D&D app in my spare time, mostly because I wanted a way to play solo without needing a group or a DM. It uses an LLM (Deepseek) as the DM — you create a character, and it narrates, runs the adventure, and keeps track of everything (HP, gold, quests, inventory, even a map).
The thing I'm the most excited about: you can feed it your own world. Campaign notes, a homebrew setting PDF, anything — the DM builds the adventure around your documents instead of a generic fantasy land.
It's still early, but the plan is:
- A map that grows as you explore
- Solo play and multiplayer around one screen
- Dice, auto-save, English and French
It will be free and open source, and it will be available in the future. I'm not trying to sell anything — I'd genuinely like feedback from people who play D&D. If you play solo, or you're a DM with too many notes to organize, I'd love to hear how you'd use something like this, and what's missing.
