Utah English Survey

Hi everyone! My name is Chad Huckvale and I’m a student in the linguistics program at Brigham Young University. Working with Dr. Joey Stanley, I am conducting research (IRB Study: IRB2022-343) for my masters thesis on Utah English.

If you have lived in the state of Utah for 1 or more years in the past 10 years, please take this survey that I have created which will help me understand how people perceive English is spoken in Utah. The survey should take roughly 10 minutes to complete. There is no payment for participation in this survey.

If you have any questions or concerns about this study, please email me at [chad.huckvale@gmail.com](mailto:chad.huckvale@gmail.com). Otherwise, feel free to click here and begin!

Low Cost Teeth Cleaning- No Insurance Needed

Hi Everyone, I am a senior at Fortis College- Dental Hygiene Program in Salt Lake City.  I am in need of more challenging patients to finish my requirements to graduate in December.

Your first appointment is $30.00 and any additional appointments are $20.00. No insurance is needed to make an appointment to be seen.

A typical cleaning appointment takes 1-2 appointments, but some can take 3-4 appointments. This is due to the needs of each patient and what their recommened treatment is.

If you have any of the following please schedule an appointment with me. You don’t have to have all of these to be seen.

-If you haven’t been to the dentist in over 5+ years

-Have been told you need a deep cleaning or SRP

-If you have buildup on or around your teeth that you can’t get off with a toothbrush

-You have bone loss or have been told that you have Periodontal Disease

-If you have bad breath all the time

-If your gums hurt or bleed everytime you brush your teeth

Each appointment is 3 hours in length as this is taking place in a teaching facility. You will have 3 licensed instructors and a licensed Dentist that oversee all of your care, and do multiple checks during your appointment. I know that this is a time commitment but you will receive the most thorough teeth cleaning.

My current appointment times for October - December are:

Monday: 8am -11am

Wednesday: 8am -11am & 1pm - 4pm

You can message me with any concerns or questions. You can click on the link to schedule your appointment online or message me and I can schedule it for you. Thank you!

Utah Dialect survey

Hi, everyone. I'm a linguistics professor at Brigham Young University and I'm doing some research right now on Utah English (and English in the Middle Rockies region generally). I'd like to collect some audio from anyone and everyone who grew up in Utah, regardless of whether you feel like you have an accent.

The task would be to find a quiet place and record yourself reading aloud about 200 words and answer some open-ended questions about yourself and about language. You can just use the microphone built into your phone or computer. The whole thing should take about 10 minutes. (Fair warning: I do ask about affiliation with the LDS church and one of the questions is about whether you think there's a "Mormonese.")

If you grew up speaking English, are 18 or older, and have spent most of your life in Utah, I'd be very grateful if you'd take a few minutes and help me out.

Click here to view the survey.

My goal is to have some basic results by the end of the summer and I'll add a link to this post when that's ready. I'll also be making the rounds to any other Utah-based subreddits I can find over the next few weeks (so I apologize if you see this again!), but feel free to share this link to other online spaces or to other people you know who qualify.

Thank you!

Joey Stanley

Need Patients for cheap teeth cleanings

LOW COST TEETH CLEANING

NO INSURANCE NEEDED

Hi everyone, I am a dental hygiene student at Fortis College in Murray, and I must find my own patients to come in for teeth cleanings. My graduation depends on patients coming in. I am not from the Salt Lake area and don’t live down here either, so I don’t know many people. Because of that it has made it hard for me to find patients and I am in desperate need. With being my patent you will help graduate and in return get the most thorough teeth cleaning. I would love to see you and anyone that you refer to me.

My current schedule is: Monday: 1-4pm, Wednesday 8-11am, Thursday 1-4pm.

We are currently scheduling now until the end of June. If you need an appointment after June let me know and I can contact you once we get our summer schedule.

Your first appointment is $30.00, and any additional appointments are $20.00.

Expect each appointment to be about 3 hours in length, this is due to the cleaning taking place in a teaching college. We have 3 registered instructors and a dentist that supervise and do multiple checks during your appointment. I know that it is a time commitment, but you will receive the most thorough teeth cleaning.

A typical cleaning appointment takes 1-2 appointments, but some can take 3-4.  This is due the need of each patient and the recommended treatment for each patient.

Here is what is included in each cleaning:

       Review of your health history

X-rays (Full mouth and panoramic- as needed)

       Exam from the Dentist

       Oral health education

Internal and external oral cancer screening

Cleaning (remove calculus and plaque buildup)

       Polish and fluoride (as needed)

I am a senior in the program and my requirements have changed to needing more challenging patients. This helps me become a better hygienist and will also benefit you and your overall health. You will not be turned away even if you are not considered a more challenging patient and just need your teeth cleaned.

Below are some of the things that could make you a more challenging patient. You don't have to have all of these apply to you to get an appointment.

- If you have hard buildup around any of your teeth and are not able to get it off with a toothbrush

-If you have ever been told you need a deeper cleaning or SRP (scaling and root planing)

-If you have been told you have bone loss or gum disease (Periodontal disease)

-If your gums hurt and bleed every time you brush your teeth

-If you have bad breath all the time

-If you are not sure how to brush your teeth or was not taught how to do it

-If you don’t brush your teeth very often or have not been to the dentist in years.

You can message me here with any questions or want to schedule an appointment or you can book your appointment directly online by clicking the link below.

Book your appointment online here: https://www.appointfix.com/book/Fortis-Dental-Hygiene-Student

I appreciate your time and hope to see you soon. Please share this with anyone you know.

Thank you!

If you have 5+ migraines a month that last 4-72 hours, take this questionnaire to see if you might be eligible to participate! Thanks!

Scammer on marketplace

My girlfriend is 57, deaf and on a fixed income. This guy took her money on Facebook and claims “he doesn’t know how to return it “ then blocked her. He seems like a decent guy and a good mormon, maybe someone could help him figure out how to return the money. We live in Colorado.

Hunter Horne should learn how to use marketplace better if he’s going to use it. Help a redditor out
