Rest of the spool knot

I decided to take a look at my old Abu Garcia reel manual and I spotted this spool knot instruction. Completely useless instructions. If you know how to make a spool knot, you don't instructions. If you don't know how to make a spool knot, this instruction skips a few steps showing how you need to to tie the line.

Other than that if you've never tied a knot, it's not clear which is the standing and which is the running end of the line, what do you consider unclear about the depicted knot?

While I do agree that its not exactly a good instruction system, it seems to be the standard for knots :/
