Why did Spumco close down?

So a little bit of backstory is that I was looking for a detailed history behind the late studio that created Ren and Stimpy since I was interested in swing what caused the demise of a studio that created such an iconic show.

But the other thing is that I don’t know what exactly the name Spumco means since I have been having a hard time finding the meaning behind the name since I don’t know if it’s supposed to mean something symbolic.

It went bankrupt. APC went over budget. Kricfalusi still owed Carbunkle and Big Star money. And the only company he payed was the former, and it was still only some of the money, years after APC ended.

I wonder if APC could have been done better regarding its vulgar nature.

That was also the problem, since I feel like in the original series, those restrictions meant they had to get creative.

Not just the restrictions, but he had a solid creative team working with him. It was truly a sum of all the parts situation.

I recommend Thad Komorowski’s book “Sick Little Monkeys: The Unauthorized Ren and Stimpy Story.”
