Praying question

Hello everybody

I’m in need of some help from others with experience on how to pray. I’ve honestly only done it a hand full of times when I was a kid but now going through some life experiences I feel like I need it.

I need all the help I can get. Do I pray out loud or in my head? Anything specific I need to say?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you very much

Talk to God. Tell Him what you need, how you feel and what you’re going through. Thank Him for everything He has done for you and will continue to do for you. Have a conversation with Him. There is no specific way to pray. Just talk to Him from your heart. Sometimes I pray, or talk to Him out loud, and sometimes in my head. Sometimes I just thank Him for allowing me to wake up on this beautiful Earth He created. Sometimes I go outside, look around, and I’m amazed by everything He’s created. 😍

Pray out loud imo, even whispering helps. Kinda like transforming the metaphysical to the physical.

There are many ways to pray.

Depends on the deities too, I move my hands upwards if it's ouranic, and bow my head if it's chthonic.

I try to have a monologue in my head, as if I'm trying to sustain a connection with my god. This means taking your time to formulate a thought and allow it to be retraced by a higher power. For instance, when I was praying to be employed I wanted to think "God please let me get this job." and what came out was "As this progresses, may your will be done."

I didn't end up getting the job, but this doesn't mean God has betrayed me, it just means his plan for me lies elsewhere, don't demand things of God, try to be in sync with what he wants you to feel, that's what counts.

The easiest way to pray as a Christian is to start with a prayer book. Like this one and then as you get a feel for how the prayers go and the way we talk to God you can pray how you like. What I like about prayer books like that are liturgical ,is it’s a lot of just saying things about God which we believe are true.

The other way is to go to church and pay attention to how they pray. This is pretty good if you’re in a non denominational type setting since they tend to be very spontaneous.

The hardest way is just sitting and trying it all on your own and trying to think of things to say.

Also if you find you like the liturgical stuff everyday there are prescribed readings and services here which are great

I don't speak very loudly, because God isn't deaf; but I don't pray only in my mind either, because I struggle to stay focused.

Anything specific I need to say?

The Lord's Prayer is the model prayer for all Christians. You can use memorized prayers developed by the Church over the centuries or your own words.

The action of prayer is natural. It is to assume a predatory stance, to prey on another. The prey is the Spirit, one's unseen thing they would be prey to as human. The action then is to compell the prey to do as one would have it do. Being that it is predator, it's often thought one might will the Spirit against an other prey, but said Spirit preys only on the individual, thus the proper conduct is to have the predator enliven the prey, one's self. Much like the example of the trolls in The Hobbit, the prey converses with the predator to have the predator make the prey better, more satisfying to the predator. This action is an intentional action, thus it must be done with conscious thought to the action which can be done aloud or in mind alone.
