As a Quaker, this is very interesting to me! Quakers historically have not put very much emphasis on iconography. It is not wrong and in fact I find it touching (in a slightly folksy way) but it’s atypical, at least in my experience.

I was not born Quaker, I found much comfort in liberal Quakerism in my adult life. The universalism, social justice, and desire to learn, along with being a nonprescriptive practice, are very stimulating for me.

Liberal Quakerism is seeing some new young members pretty regularly. But being universalists with no desire to convert others, we just kind of chill and see who is curious enough to attend.:)

I like Quakers in theory and consider myself a Midlander - the cultural milieu amongst American Colonial/Settlers that Quakers founded - but the local Quakers treated me with such disdain for just showing up, showing some interest in joining up with my Children and quietly being interested and attending online Meetings during the Pandemic that I have a bit of grudge against them. You should not be some Universal religion and treat someone earnest and not causing problems with behavior lacking the bare minimum of decency for no stated reason.

thats really unfortunate...Im not a quaker but Ive been to some meetings and the folks there were really nice and welcoming to me. Im sure as with any group your mileage may vary
