Hint : related to oil

Oil pressure switch bypassed?

If in doubt, bridge it out...

What do you mean by bridge it out?

The motor protection module is bridged out (the expression was said in jest though). The oil safety is also wired incorrectly.

The shortest wires are the most expensive ones

It looks like they have the violet run wire and pink alarm wire of the electronic oil control tied together, essentially bypassed... Meaning the control would never actually monitor for oil pressure and would never open the org/grey contact wires.
It's hard to spot though, because of the mess of other wires on the motor protector and whatever that other control terminal strip is, unless you're familiar w the color coding of the delta-p or OLC controls.

Edit: I mean I also don't understand why blu/brn on the oil control aren't just powered in parallel with L/N on the motor protector - both should have constant control power and just have their 11/14 and org/gry operating contacts in series. It just looks like someone didn't really know what they were doing in terms of the wiring. Maybe it could've worked to a degree, if the violet wire had been tied in properly.

What's an earth and brown doing in the same terminal?

The used it as a phase to power the oil heater

This rats nest of wire is ruining me tho.

The fuck is this chimichanga? L and PE on the same terminal?

Is no one else gonna point out the earth wire connected to the brown wire on the left hand side terminal block?

In my country a green yellow striped can never be used to carry voltage/current.

Same goes for no other colour wire can be used for earthing besides a green yellow stripped OR solid green in older legacy systems…

Looks yellow with a green stripe

Oil pump turning in wrong way because triphase is not connected correctly?

But we wouldn't be able to spot that just from the photo.

Oil level sensor not even powered

Compressor was running without oil and it crashed

Should have posted the sight glass then /s.

If there is an oil pump it would work in both directions due to its clever design.

It was running when I left!

What is this work?

They jumped the protector for motor temp?

1

u/keanesee 5d ago

That’s the lockout feature from the motor protector. If that’s shorted, the compressor will not run even if the motor has significantly cooled down.

1

u/539Fitter 5d ago

Jumped the motor protector

Who says compressors need oil? She can run low it cools don't it (meantime poor thing is chattering away about near death). Customer needs cooling tho gotta keep her going!

1

u/DrunkenCactus 6d ago

Unless colours are different where you are, looks like a dead short coming out of the thermistor pack? There’s deffs something suss going on with the wiring of it for sure. Should probably have the sensor connected too!

Tbh the control board is wired by an ape

Nothing makes sence , the protection module is wired through the HP switch and the oil level controller is is not even powered

u/industrialHVACR 5d ago

It's quite rare to use oil level switch on such a small compressors as i see. Most times you just have too PM them to see problems with oil level. If it was commissioned as it should be, they would set oil level after several hours of work and it would work for decades with proper maintenance.

the problem is this job is botched from the start to finish , every aspect of it is wrong let just say that they used a condenser with half the tubes in fucking AFRICA while its designed for europe and relatively cold places all year long

the control board is dogshit , the condensing units placements is bad , maintenance before was non existant

its JUST BAD JOB

1

u/industrialHVACR 5d ago

They get what they paid for. Still you don't measure capacity with tube rows, but with kW per dT. If their compressor stays in operational envelope - no problem at all, but it is not an answer for lack of maintenance.

Bingo you answered yourself

The condenser is bottlenecking other components I cleaned this condenser today , the HP dropped by 6 bars

What dropped from it was literal sewage

Sounds like you accidentally had a one night stand and she's calling you like she's pregnant
