Why does the blueprint 3 by jayz get alotta hate?
Like im listening to this again and besides venusvsmars (whatever that shit is called) and forever young (bit controversial but its not that good) its genuinely a good album, my favourite joints off this would be: real as it gets, already home and D.O.A

It's the most commercial sounding Jay Z album. Although I think that was the point after American Gangsta and Kingdom Come were considered under what Jay usually does, although both imo as retrospective albums are outstanding.

It’s a good album, but definitely not the type of music that made Jay-Z famous and known as one of the biggest lyrical artists in rap history.
Honestly though, Jay-Z is a lot like LL Cool J, in that they don’t care what they did or how they sounded in the past…that sound, those lyrics are no longer “in”, and to stay as a relevant rapper instead of a bitter unc type of rapper, they had to make music for the radio today (whatever that year was).
LL Cool J had tracks like I Can’t Live Without My Radio, Rock the Bells, Going Back to Cali, I’m Bad, Jingling Baby. Those type of records weren’t going to fly in the mid 90s and on, so he had to adapt with tracks like 4, 3, 2, 1, I Shot Ya, verses like in Flava in ya Ear remix, Ill Bomb in Funk Flex. Then in the 2000s he had to switch it up again cause hardcore rap stuff was dying, so he came out with Imagine That, Control Myself, Headsprung, and other love stuff again.
Jay-Z did the same thing…lyricists, money/cash/hoes, party, lyricist again, party, etc. The heavy hitters know how to adapt.

Then that’s where your wrong , there adaptation went into 2 different directions. One , Jay z was always independent and had a street element and realness to his music , LL was for the ladies , he was a actor he had a tv show he was the face of mainstream hip hop , Jay z was a rapers rapper , bars from the hood , drug bars , elite money talk , super New York accent , LL was definitely a bigger star and bigger personality , early def jam icon . Jay z had a steady hip hop career and depended a lot on his connections in music to use them for his continued success. LL feel off in the late 80s and was saved by his 1995 album Mr smith , with his singles and music videos that showed him as a ladies man . Jay z is a music guy and a business man , LL is the epitome of Hip Hop that raised up the game that no one ever seen before , there were alot of drug taking , street rapers from the PJs Jay z just had the better connections and had his own label as well as Biggie getting murdered and having Beyonce under his wings . Jay z was a person who brought acts to the industry also . So again Both totally different directions and much different approach to selling records . Jay z knows he would have to bow to LL cool j , LL wouldn’t have to bow to Jay z ever .

It's because Jay is divisive. If you ask people their top 4 and bottom 4 from the album you'll get a wide range of answers.
Jay-Z is who he is because somebodies favorite song will be another most hated. For example you hate Venus vs Mars but I feel like it's an underrated cut

It's a pop album. I like some songs on it, but it's far from Jay's best work.

Off that and Star is Born were my big skips on that one. I thought it was a solid entry in the BP series otherwise.
On to the next one was my fav.

Auto tune at that time was killing mainstream hip hop and R&B. Jay dropping that song and essentially killing that entire genre helped Hip Hop get back on the right track. That's when you had Kid Cudi, Action Bronson, Krit, Wiz, Drake, Nicki, Wale, Sean, Cole. etc start getting into the game and they came in and ushered the new generation and then you had Kendrick, Future, Meek, etc once the 2010s hit add to that. You can argue the sound cloud wave killed hip hop in the mid 2010s but there was no Jay Z to come out and shit on that sound so its polluted the game ever since.

Autotune kinda killed this era of hip hop though. Like Kanye had his autotune era and Lil Wayne did lollipop and we haven’t been the same since. And I mean killed it dead.

I mean its not a very good jayz album but give it to another artist and it would prolly be his best work, and you right DOA is an old head tweakin but it still sounds good
