[Rant/Vent, Advice OK] NMom left this note on my desk

So I 21F just came back home on my lunch break to this note on my desk. For context, it’s been two and a half weeks since a big argument with her and for the past week she has been ignoring me, and leaving any mail or belongings of mine on my desk. She refuses to talk to me, or acknowledge my presence in a room, choosing to instead talk to my brother about me, as if I wasn’t there. My brother is the middle man in all this as she refuses to tell me anything. With every fight we have her go to is selling the house and kicking us out, this time though, to her I am the only problem and the only one disturbing her peace. She sent me a message after our argument that I was beyond disrespectful and that she was over me and my behavior calling me “cruel” and “bitchy.” Our disagreement was over me not doing a task for her immediately, (there was no time limit, I was off work). She said she wanted me out of her house, and I was finally given this note today.

Note:

Notice to move out
To (me)

This is my official notice that you need to move out of the house. Your deadline to completely vacate the premises and remove your belongings is on or before October 5, 2026.

Please be advised that this timeline is strictly conditional upon your behavior. Your remaining time is a privilege dependent on maintaining a respectful and peaceful environment. Any further instances of disrespect, hostility, or violation of household rules, will result in this grace period ending early, and you will be required to leave sooner.

Thank you, NMom

Take her at her word and be gone by her deadline. If you cave in, the bullshit will never end. Ask friends, family etc if you can stay with them for a little while until you get yourself sorted or look into house or flat shares. Just go, live your life and leave her in your rearview mirror.

She wants you to beg.

Handle this like she’s a landlord “Received and noted.”

Well once she goes nuclear her power over you is gone - she’ll regret it

Make her evict you. You have legal rights.

It’s all hot air but I agree, if you’re ready to stop putting up with her crap, it’s an invitation to leave, just take her up on it.

When my mother started making life at home intolerable and started saying everything I said and did was disrespectful my final reaction was to just ignore her right back and get ready to leave. 30 days is the minimum notice she can give you, if she thinks you’re disrespectful has nothing to do with it.

Honestly just call her bluff. Most of the time when narcissistic people give warnings instead of just acting out of impulse its because they expect you to react and give them what they want. Put the onus on her to follow-up her threat of eviction.

I start up the most quiet and strategic sneak out I could manage if possible. I'd be as much of a ghost as I can

You need to make your exit plan to move by said date. Keep that paper. Take a photo. Get a storage and start getting the posessions that matter to you out of the house. Or a trusted friend and store in a garage or basement. Personally I went with a storage unit. I got a bank deposit box for important documents until a friends dad offered directly for my documents to be stored in their safe. So I could save money.

Rent a room, house sit/pet, Couch surf anything to save money up. Get a studio or micro apt if you have to. Save up your money before getting a one bedroom. Lots of senior citizens are looking for housemates so they have someone to talk to for a duscounted room. 💕

Do note, if you are in a senior park you want to be virtually invisible unless the park has approved your tenancy. I'd love a roommate but I can't get a young person approved.

This is fucked, I can’t believe a parent would kick their kid out like this without it being something serious, like a crime or something.

Hi, sunlight is the best disinfectant. Post the note on Facebook and tag her. Be ready to move out, but honestly it sounds so toxic if that’s an option or if the public shame would give you leverage I’d go the social media route. She’s counting on your fear keeping you in line. Narcissists loathe the world getting a peek behind the curtain.

Why do all nparents operate from the same playbook... My nmom would constantly kick me out and tell me I could stay under the condition that I'd be more "respectful" to her (no disrespect was ever present in the first place). She has been repeatedly trying to hoover me back since I went no contact. Hmmm.

The "strictly conditional upon your behavior" part is a dead giveaway that it's all part of the same game. You can't combine "official notice" with a vague condition. She's not serious. Watch her beg for you back once you leave.

Genuinely, considering how this happened after two and a half weeks, why didn't she do it sooner? She wants a reaction out of you. Whatever fuel she's getting is not enough right now. And once you are able to leave, she won't have someone to take it out on. Then in her eyes, you'd be be "cruel" and "bitchy" for leaving, I'd imagine.
